i totally believe it.
ive made 555 whp on a car w/ completely stock ignition,
i hate switching over to an aftermarket ignition, unless u have to.

im not saying i dont believe it...
what do you have to gap the plugs to in order to push that much on stock ignition...

what plugs?

we made 540+ on a completely stock engine and ignition, with a 255 pump and stock lines.

SICK ! This makes me feel stupid with my MSD SCI and my Blaster SS coil on my 300whp setup lol
BUT the thing I would like to know is... if you add an aftermaket coil, ignition etc could you gain something from this setup by exemple ? Add more fuel ? Better spark ?
What do you think about my idea ?
I would like to see the difference....

Re: (yellowturbo)
I saw this a few days ago on Jeff's site. I would love to just keep stock ignition and go to the dyno. The only problem is that im like 8-9 hours away from the dyno and if I start to break up then im pretty much screwed. What aftermarket ignitions are you guys having good results with? I know the M&W stuff is supposed to be very nice...

Dad was right when he said, "If it aint broke, don't fix it"
He also said, "It's all pink on the inside", but I've only been with white girls and can't verify that one - hopefully one day though

Re: (nonvtecD)
youre right in a way, it could use a little smaller of a turbo. maybe the t3/t67 with a .63 a/r. i am running the t3/t67 h.o. also and i seemed to have a better powerband for some reason on my completely stock b18c1. but again 5-6k rpms come pretty quick...then from there you better hang the **** on because that turbo kicks *** from 6k on up. it feels like it just wants more power...haha! i love this turbo and i wouldnt trade it for any other one at this point. might go with a bigger one next season but definately not smaller.

I wish it was that easy, there's alot more to how much power a car will make than boost level and displacement. The head, cams, and turbo components all make a huge difference on power output, as well as how agressive the tune is.

Re: (tony1)
i have done one or 2 cars that will make around 550-600 on the stock ignition, but not for long. usually a stock ign takes a **** at around 450 from what i have seen unless its all brand new stuff.

Re: (jdmturbosol)
Correct.
I think what most people fail to remember is that larger turbos produce a larger volume of air at the same boost level than a smaller turbo, thereby generating more power.
