60-1 turbo on B18?
Believe me. I searched every possible combination, even with parenthesis, post body, topic title, recent, archive. I dont know how there is not any topic about this, even searched just 60-1 itself and got nothing, but whatever.
Anyone used this turbo on a B18A or B, how did it respond?
Im looking to go with just some forged rods and pistons around 8.5:1 depending on my headgasket size and push it to an 8k rpm limit.

for such a large turbo, and if it is mainly for street purposes, stay above 9.0:1 for better transient response.
The bigger question is what hp are you looking for in this car? (please do not give an E.T. from the drag strip, or a PSI number) . The 60-1 has a choice of exhaust wheels as well. Which 60-1 are you considering?
Answering these questions will help greatly in gaining assistance from this forum

Trust me, this is not the first turbo engine I've built. PSI is useless without knowing the CFM from the turbo and VE of the engine, and drag times are pointless to list because of so many variables.
Im looking for about 350whp-400whp. Full specs on the 60-1 Im looking to get are .70 AR compressor .63 AR turbine, .60 trim compressor wheel. And no, this wont be daily driven. Weekend and track use mainly. But I will be selling my daily driver soon and getting another car so I will have to daily it for a couple weeks until I can find another.
Well I already got the pistons. They are Arias 8.3:1 pistons w/ the stock head. I've had the head skimmed already. Im not sure how much he removed, so Im assuming the standard 0.010. Which should put me around 8.5:1 compression with a normal gasket. I can push this further a different headgasket though.

You still didn't answer my question in terms of exhaust wheel. When you state an A/R number for a turbine housing that somewhat helps, but not when it comes to which particular turbine wheel you'd like to use. There are several 60-1 compressor/exhaust housing situations, some are a bit more responsive in terms of fitment and use, (like my "silver surfer"), others, and in more common setup that uses a T04S compressor cover (there's only 1 60-1 wheel) and a stage III wheel. Upgrades use the larger P-Trim wheel that works as a bit better match with that compressor wheel. Most of the larger exhaust wheels come in a larger turbine housing.
Hopefully this wasn't to enigmatic.

i had the 60-1 with the stage 3 wheel .63ar on a stock ls motor. i hated it. 5psi by 4000 and didnt get 10 psi till around or a little over 5000 rpms.
i feel you can use a more responsive turbo and still meet your goals

I have a 60-1 .70ar .63? top mounted on my gsr
I too searched and searched before I bought it but the search wouldnt allow the '60-1'
I havent started the car yet still working on this and that and I'm so curious as to when its going to spool.
I have je 9:1 81mm w eagle rods and arp this and that.
I'm shooting for 400+ on 93 - 450-475 w meth injection and 500+ w race gas..

MythBusters say it the best..."well there's your problem" I have the .82ar housing with the stage 5 wheel on an ls/vtec and I'll get 16-18 psi by like ~4800rpm with 9:1 pistons. Keep in mind the motor isn't stock.

yes i took it off my 84mm sleeved vtec motor so i could still drive my daily driver with a turbo while the 57 trim was out getting rebuilt.
the 60-1 makes 17 psi at like 4600 on that motor. the 57 trim with a .48ar hit 10 psi at like 3400 on the ls motor
