Default 6 puc vs. street disc for turbo

i was wondering if any one is running a street disc clutch on a turbo car, as of now i am running an act 6 puc with heavy duty pressure plate and i am not to excited about the chatter... ive heard that if i swap it out for a street disc that it will start sliping, what are you guys running and how is it holding up?

I loved the all out performance level of the 6-puck in my hybrid, but normal driving was aweful.

My brother is runnin a street disk and xtreme pressure plate in his turbo 'teg and it seems to be holding up very well.

I'm also running a 6 puck disc, its pita to drive it in the beginning but once you get use to it. It became normal and easy. And that thing last forever. I have it for three years now and it still grab like a ****!!

If you are concerned with chatter, or in your case, want to get rid of chatter, I would say try a Street Disc with the HD P/PL. My buddy layed down 409 whp in his 200SX SE-R. Granted, if you are an avid drag racer, this disc tends to get glazed pretty easily , especially when you mount on slicks. You can always try the Xtreme P/PL with Street Disc and see if that works any better. I have the Xtreme P/PL and 6 puck and it isn't too bad. My car is daily driven also!

Three years? Do you ever drive the car?? I had 14k on mine and it was almost done. The PP and flywheel were scored so bad I'm surprised the clutch plate itself wasnt dragging!

Bottom line, it is a totally sweet clutch. With the xtreme pressure plate, it is far more aggressive. The raw pressure from the xtreme makes it much more difficullt to manipulate the sweet spot (the on/off threshold).

Here's my writeup on the clutch http://importnut.net/act_6puck.htm

Hmm...let me see. not to many street driven miles(under 20k) but about 300+ autocross runs and at least 30 passes at the drag strip believe it or not. BTW, all runs are on slicks and Hoosiers DOT.

I used to run the 6 puck, but hated the chatter and it tore the hell out of my flywheel, not to mention it ruined all the main bearings and input shaft seal in my tranny because of the harsh engagement.

I kept the Xtreme PP and switched to the stock disc- this setup works awesome, grabs hard, and absolutely no chatter. And my tranny likes it better!

Its been holding 10 psi of boost just fine.

It's funny you mention the input shaft bearings and seal failing due to the 6-puck. I just pulled out my tranny and dropped it off to have new bearings and seals installed. I'm having a quaife LSD installed while I'm at it

As for my new setup, I run the Xtreme PP and the organic disk. I love it. The pedal pressure is excellent and the engagement is smooth.
