Default ACT XTRSS and RPS MAX Clutch? 500+ hp guys.....what clutch to get?

My clutch and flywheel didn't look to good last time in/out, so looking for both.

Looking at the Exedy and ACT products, any other suggestions?

Is the EXEDY Cerametalic clutch usable for street, and able to hold the hp? Or would I need to go to the Hyper Series?

If ACT, would the X-treem with 6 puck hold the hp? I have driven on it for years and it is fine for the street.

Also, should I get an external coil like the MSD blaster?

Thanks for the input

ACT-HA3-XTR4 or the XTR6 will work fine if you want a high torque rated clutch.

Also remember, clutches are rated by TORQUE, not horsepower. It would also help if you would tell us which motor you have, as you may know larger displacement motors will create more torque then one .7L smaller.

As far as external coils, the msd is a good choice.

i got the act maxxtreme 6 puck, works good. i wouuld've went with a tilton but if i was chinese my name would've been NOOH MAWNIE.

i got a msd hvc blaster coil too. the blue one. my stock dizzy took a crap on the dyno, so i would highly suggest you invest in a good ignition system. honda ignitions systems are good, but for how long you know. when boosting, spraying etc. etc. blahzay, blahzay ( some chick said that to me).

I have RPS 450ft/lb in my 500np hatch drive it every day works great so far have about 8000miles of hard driving! stay away from the pucks if you can they do a number on your flywheel!!!!! RPS used to be ACT back in the day so they know there ****.
heavyest plate with the strongest street disc is the combo of a lot of high HP DSMs I know of to because it gives you great clamping force with out the shock! and the big shock is what hurts thing anyway. hondas are lighter only useing two tires so the set up has worked great for me! if you were more of a weekend driver and you hit up alot of track events then with the grabing power of the slicks you would maybe want to look at something a little stronger?

I like the RPS Max with the 2200PP and the disc, wasn't sure how it would hold up to the hp/trq.

My flywheel/PP looks like crap after 40k miles from my ACT 6 puck. Although RPS make the segmented PP and Flywheel now so the plates could be replaced w/o resurfacing. Just alot of $$.

RIght now im using it in a stock gsr motor with their lightweight flywheel and it grabs awesome. Clutch has some chatter though. I will see how it grabs under boost soon.

is there a site that provides the torque number that the exedy clutchs can hold? I always just find a percentage not an actual number.

% is all they give. You do not understand math??

I ran an exedy for a wile, I liked it. It wont hold no 500hp though
I would put a max at say...350hp
They hold more than people think

ya i understand math, but figured someone would have a site that states exactly what tq numbers it should hold. Instead of doing that **** myself.

I had a clutchmaster stage 4 on my car. It felt like it was stock. The pedal was really soft, engaged really nicely, but when it bit, it BIT. I swear by that clutch. It was the strongest one they made that was still sprung.

I think Stoopid uses the Clutchmasters Stage 5. But their description said it needs to be pulled and checked frequently as it is a drag clutch and not inteded for street use. Hmm.......

The Exedy Cerametalic I do not recomend for anything near 500 hp.. It was mentioned above and just for the record, IMO it is crap.. it chattered like crazy and that was with out any boost.. I was much harder on my OEM clutch and the Exedy crapped out in about 20k miles.. I wouldn't waste your time.

Edit: Mine was the thin disk and my motor was near stock at the time.
