Default 4th GEN TURBO PRELUDE PROBS

My set up: 1994 turbo VTEC prelude, DSM 450, P72 with hondata S200B, T3/T04E, tial 28mm wg 5psi. My first problem is there is a lot of hesitation when i drive. The car has a partial tune (up to 5k rpm) but the ignition was breaking up so bad on the dyno, we could not continue. I have replaced the plugs (gapped to .030), plug wires, distributor, and coil. The battery is now in the trunk and i checked the wiring to it as well especially the ground. I can not figure out why i have hesitation all the way throught the rev range and even more so in the higher rmps. It feel ignition related more so than fuel. Could it be in the P72? Was there anything special i was supposed to enable or disable once i put it in the prelude? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

What kind of spark plugs are you running?
Also do you know the fuel pressure and/or AFR at the point of hesitation?

And why was it only tuned up to 5k? Do you experince this problem after 5k?
Your issues sound like they are tuning related.

you should try a map sensor and look at your map's wiring.

Also look at your a/f...when i had my turbo lude it felt like that too....reason was because of two things....my map sensor's wire shorted and i was running WAY TOO rich.

What was ur a/f

i am using BCPR7ES-11's as far as plugs, gapped to .030. The hesitation is through out the entire rev-range but more so on high end. Because it was breaking up so much on the dyno in the higher revs, i quit tuning at 5k where the vtec is set. This moring i drove the car as soon as i started from a cold start. I normally give the car a moment to warm up but this time i did not. There was hardly any hesitation at all but the closer the car got to its normal operating temp, the more it started to stutter. I parked for a couple of hours and let the car get completely cold again and did the same with the same results. Any thoughts? Also how would i check the map sensor and what map should i replace it with?? Thanks

Also, I dont think the spark is being blown out because the car has hesitation even when i am not in boost. The A/F is between mid 11s and low 13s depending on the throttle. We hooked it up to a wide band yesterday also to verify the tune. (sigh)

Hmmm...Hondata + DSM 450's don't really mix.

http://www.hondata.com/forum/viewtop...hlight=dsm+450 Straight from Hondata themselves...

The car still runs good cold but not well at all once warm. I unplugged what looked to be the coolant temp sensors (there are two on H22s right??) but no change in the car's poor performance when its warm. Any thoughts?

Do you have the car in open loop or closed loop on the Hondata? The DSM 450's aren't the problem, we've done a TON of cars with those injectors and haven't had a problem getting them to run right (they take longer to start sometimes though).....when you initially start the car it's in open loop (not taking readings from the stock O2 sensor) and it will transition to closed loop as it warms up (using the O2 to trim the fuel)....however, if you said the A/Fs are 11-13, that's obviously not the problem.....

Did you have your injectors cleaned and flowed before putting them in? You may have a faulty injector throwing off both your wideband readings and the way the car is running. A lot of time I see people buying DSM 450's off some 13 year old car and just dropping them right in

Only other thing I can still think of is timing......

I know this thread is old, but the his car is still running bad, so I figured I would add to this post.

Kidd_Stylez: Are you running a stock fuel pump and FPR??

Everyone else: He told me he boosted up to 20psi by accident on his car. Would this much pressure break a stock map sensor or any other sensors?
