400whp, can it be reliable with out driving like a p*ssy
I have benson sleeves, eagle h beams, hondata S100w/ boost, 83mm cp pistons 9.0-1 c/r. cometic head gasket, ARP head studs, Rod bolts and acl bearings. I was going to run 300ish whp and Ryancivic2000 said to do 400 minimum.
Can this be reliable or should i stick with 300. I know the more the horse the less reliability but lets here your thoughts on this.

The tuning is the answer to that ?, it's all in the tuning.
Thats assuming the engine was assembled properly.

Yes, that build up can handle at least 400whp EASILY. Like mention, if built properly and TUNED, then you wont have a problem. Stock motor can handle 300whp already. Why not shoot 400whp when your built?

Ditto. Again get it tuned properly and you'll be fine.

talk to D@nny on the board, he's car made 400 whp on pump and i have never seen someone beat the **** out of the car so bad every single day, and it has the same compression as the day we tuned it way back when. haha
so yes, it will be fine if you have it tuned properly.

Mine isn't too far off of 400. Drive it every day. Only problems thus far- A heater hose started to leak (given the thing was nearly 10 years old).
I don't think new axles would be necessary on the street. With 400 on the street, roasting tires is inevitable in first, second and into third. Wheel spin doesn't kill axles. However, at the track....now that's a different story.

Wow, must be a heavy boat of a car.
You are correct about the axles and street tires - the SBC/914 boys use stock sized tires on the street to prevent shattering VW transmissions. Same principle.

Don't mind if i ask,but how in the hell did he brake not 1 but 2 sets of axles on the dyno?
Because i've never seen it done, and i have been dynoing cars for two years now, from 200hp all the way to 700hp on stock axles, and they have never broken.
At the track now thats a diferent story.

380 WHP, stock GSR sleeves, no block guard, wiseco pistons, eagle rods, ARP bolts and studs in the whole motor, stock HG, AEM EMS to tune, stock replacement autozone axles. I don't baby it/drive like a *****, but it's not like i'm doing WOT blasts to 120 every day.

Eventually. I'm over 400whp and after 120K, the stock ones are about to go.

What about Brian Ballard who went low 10's and over 140 MPH in the 1/4 on stock sleeves? What about fullracegsr's 475 WHP at 23 pounds of boost on stock sleeves? What about evo hybrid making 540 WHP on stock sleeves? What about Geoff @ Full-Race's 511 WHP on stock sleeves? What about Jared's 509 WHP on stock sleeves? What about all the car's at InlinePro that made tons of power on stock sleeves? In the mid 90's pretty much nobody sleeved honda motors. There were still lots of honda based racecars around making LOTS of power, and they had to be on stock sleeves. There are many people that have made gobs more power than me on stock sleeves. They will be reliable provided you do not detonate.
