Default 400hp b16a, do i need to sleeve it?

probably a pretty mundane question so an answer would be better than a flame. im new to boost.

looking for 400 hp on pump gas. im guessing 18psi might get me there, 9.0:1CR, aftermarket pistons, rods. im sticking with the stock bore and stroke maybe .25 overbore at most, basically jstu wondering if i must sleeve it and what little helpful tidbits are nessicary ie. cam selection, compressor selection

Well im running a stock sleeved 81.5mm b16. On 18psi it makes 370whp with an sc61 on it. On 20-21 psi it makes 415whp. This is done on stock b16 cams, the bottom end consists of eagle rods, je 9.1 pistons .20 overbore, ge blockgaurd. I have sk2 valvetrain on the head and thats it. I dont think you need to sleeve it to make what im making. My engine builder/tuner does not sleeve a motor unless the person wants to make over 500whp, stock sleeves with the right tunning will last a long time on 400whp.

No. It is generally accepted here that stock b-series sleeves (excluding b20) will hold 400 whp and be fairly reliable, the tune is a VERY large factor here.

Some good discusion wrt turbo efficiency....

The faqs have a lot of useful info, how much boost you will need to reach your desired hp can be calculated for specific engines and compressors using the information in the links above. GL.

Dont see a problem as long as you run a good ems and have a good tuner .

Skunk2, Blox, Crower and some other companies make turbo cams, but most people making good power are running on Honda cams. Either B16, GSR, Type R, CTR, etc.

people have made good power with ctr and itr cams and they are relatively inexpensive. I am using a set of crane stgII all motor cams in my engine, the specs are ver close to those of oem itr cams. Got em' at a really good price 2.
