400-450 WHP B16, what are the most common setups?
Hallo,
we plan a 400-450 WHP B16A Setup, what are the most common setups for this power?
what turbo is the best for this application?
how much bosst?
what compression?
how many octane?
what are the most problems i will get?
that the block must get sleeves, pistons and rods and so on is totaly clear... its just about the things around the engine.
Thanks for your help
Malte.

here was our setup when we made 430 hp on my turbo 4 car back in the day
- 81.5mm je pistons, 9.0:1 compression
- eagle rods
- block guard
- stock head
- crower valve springs and retainers
- stock valves
- stock b16 cams
- edelbrock intake manifold
- holley 68mm throttle body
- 720cc injectors
- uberdata
- innovative gt61s turbo at 22 psi
430 at the wheels

What about the fuel? how many octane is needed at a 9:1 compression ratio so that we don't get detonation?
Thanks
Malte.

horsepower is not solely dependent on how much boost. you could make 350whp on a small t3 at 15psi, and 400 on 15psi from a t3/t4.

Hi Malte
Octane rating is not the same in the US and in Europe. I have been told that US octane 93 is around 98 in europe.

Re: 400-450 WHP B16, what are the most common setups? (DanishR)
Yes i know, but i can recalculate it if someone tell me a number.
its also clear that 15psi on a T3 is not 15psi on a t4... this was the reason for my question about what type of turbo is the best and how much boost is aprox. needed for around 450 WHP.
Thanks
Malte.
