300whp b16 stock block. Which turbo?
The goal is 300whp PUMP. 10-12 psi should be enough?
The motor is a stock b16 with bre management and i have a lm1 wideband, but it will be taken to a reputable tuner.
Which turbocharger is the question?
Finding the sc61 is a little difficult in the u.k. , i have seen people say the gt35r is a good choice , but obviously there may be different spec.
Here is the spec i was looking at.
I don't care if it lags, i like peak power.
"
Compressor
Ind Whl Dia:61.4mm
Exd Whl Dia:82.0mm
Trim:56
A/R:0.70
Blades:6short,6long
Turbine
Whl Dia:68.0mm
Trim:84
A/R:0.63
Blades:10
Type:Free Float
"
Does that seem like a fair selection ?

Re: 300whp b16 stock block. Which turbo?
The SC61, although a good turbo, is going to be rather laggy on your stock B16. That turbo is good for upwards of 500whp and is too big IMO for your goals. If i were you, i would look at something akin to a T3/T04E 50 trim .63ar or even a T3 Super 60. That way you have boost earlier in the powerband which makes for a more responsive street car. There are several other options available, but the choice depends on your demands for the turbo, the characteristics you want and the price you're willing to pay.
I know you say you dont care about lag, rather about peak power. Well regardless of your selection, you can make 300whp...the only difference is one turbo is going to have a better overall powerband than another and feel faster. Its pointless to run 8psi on an SC61 and make 300whp (with gobs of lag) when you could easily run a 50 trim at 12-13psi and make the same power with more torque and quicker response

Thank you for your responce.
I hear you, but i was thinking for future uprades - if i decide to totally abandon my n-asp build and just invest fully into turbo.
Street driver / lag doesn't bother me - if its starting to boost by 5000rpm ill be happy

keep in mind that good supporting mods will help you get to your goal faster(good turbo manifold, intake manifold and good exhaust). a .57 trim would be good for your goals.

Re: 300whp b16 stock block. Which turbo?
I understand your point, but i've always had the mindset that i would upgrade my turbo to fit the setup. I've gone from ~300whp to 306whp to 315whp to my current 385whp setup. There have been subtle changes which have made those individual setups great for the street. In the process ive had a 60trim, 60-1, GT3255b and my current S256. I wouldnt buy a turbo in hopes that you're going to do something. Upgrade when the time comes.

Re: 300whp b16 stock block. Which turbo?
Thankyou for the ideas/ opinions guys.
Next problem is the kit i was supposed to be getting from a friend, includes a 3" 4 BOLT downpipe , so finding a t3/t4 4 bolt will be a problem.
The 5 bolt downpipes for sale ( ebay ) are all 2.5"
For 300whp im gonna need the 3" really i think ?

stock b16a here ramhorn, 3inch down pipe, made 321hp and 225 tq at 11 psi, t3/t4 .63, 57 trim. turned it up to 17psi for the last year, still seems happy!!

I dont know why you would have a hard time finding a 4 bolt turbine...those seem to be almost more popular. Any of the vendors in the Marketplace should have a 4 bolt 57 trim on hand. The shipping costs to the UK may not be a lot of fun, but its doable. Also, i would go with the 3" downpipe...especially if you're holding onto this idea of making more power in the future

Allright thanks,
99% Of the turbo's i have seen here are 5bolt , which sucks (im only going to buy a cheap turbo at the moment actually) and in buying a cheap turbo i guess it doesnt matter whether ill want to upgrade in the future or not , cause the turbo probably wont last anyway!

4bolt t3/t04e's are not uncommon, that's what i used to run. Just ask/call one of the vendors if they have them.
Or just look around on the marketplace for a bit.

If you want to be fancy and get kick *** results, EVO9 turbo. It will require a custom manifold. If you want to be typical, T3/T04e 50 trim .63/.60. GT32 is another good choice.

Re: 300whp b16 stock block. Which turbo?
Right still having trouble.
Looked on ebay uk and usa, have not found one turbo that is 3" 4bolt downpipe that is the correct turbo required.
The only one ive found so far are the cheap gt35 turbo's on ebay, but a little big.
Edit : now that i look into it, the gt35's on ebay have a 2.5" outlet ( hot side ) - so im still screwed !
Further edit : i think well, 4 bolt 3" is hard to find here, so ill get a 3" vband flange on the downpipe and a 3" vband turbo. Arggghhhh ! I can only find 2.5" and 3.5 or 4" v band turbos lol !!!
