Default 3-4 psi only once hit VTEC = exhaust mani leak?

My friend's car is only getting 3-4 psi of boost and it only hits that psi right after VTEC engages. The only thing I could think of why would be his exhaust manifold is leaking pre-turbo. So, I'm just going to help him put a new gasket in and some high temp silicone and see what happens...

I wanted to get some opinions if it could be something different than that causing his boost leak... Possibly wastegate? (internal) or charge pipe leak could do the same thing???

Thanks for any input

I already told you on SHO, it's your leaking manifold that's the problem. You went through all the variables and checked them out, nothing helped. Then you told me that there was a small pre-turbo exhaust leak... BINGO. But I guess that you could waste some more of your time searching for a fix off of blind guesses.

Edit : Does anyone else here wish that H-T had the same look and feel as SHO or that SHO had the same member support of H-T ?

Well the thing is SHO tends to be more of a community board and HT tends to be more technical.
