Default 3" exhausts causes boost creep?

ive been reading that 3" piping on the exhausts contribute to boost creep. so what are the pros/cons of running a smaller dia. exhaust (if it doesnt give away to boost creep)? and if i get a boost controller, will it get rid of it 100%?

boost creep as i understand it is more caused by an imporperly placed wastegate in relation to the collector. With a well designed turbo manifold and a well placed wastegate it should be possible to run a 3" without significant problems. boost creep happens when the wastegate opens up but due to its placement it can not bypass enough exhaust to slow down the turbo and prevent overboosting. in this instance the increased back pressure of a smaller exhaust would force more exhaust to exit through the wastegate and slow the turbo down.

I hope you can understand what i wrote. I think it makes sense. the key is to understand what all the seperate parts do and then put them together

As for a boost controller, the only thing it is good for is to raise boost levels above the spring rate that is in the wastegate. A wastegate will always begin regulating boost when it recieves a boost signal from a vaccum/boost source. A boost controller manipulates this boost signal and allows the wastegate to stay shut and this allows the turbo to spool longer and create more boost.

anyone wanna critique me or did i hit it pretty well??

ive been told that a boost controller can eliminate boost creep. is this totally untrue then? and your answer made a lot of sense, thanks.

i don't see how a boost controller could stop boost creep at all. the fact is that once the wastegate is open is when boost creep occurs so changing the point where it opens i.e. using a boost controller wouldn't do anything

doesnt boost controller keep the wastegate closed till you reach the desired boost? will this prevent boost creep?

I don't think so because boost creep occurs after the wastegate opens fully. c'mon someone with a wealth of knowledge answer difinitively.

oh yea, simple solution, get a 40mm Tial wastegate. or better manifold design

this has been discussed so many times.

Not gonna help if the problem is a poorly designed manifold

or better manifold design
Yes.

A boost controller cannot eliminate boost creep. It just lets you raise boost.

Which manifolds are prone to having boost creep? The only one I know of is Drag.
