Now I know that the topic of catch cans have been beat to death but I am stuck in between these two. Which one does everyone prefer and why please?

You don't want a drainback. You get contaminated oil draining back into the crankcase that way. Also I would highly recommend two fittings off front of valve cover vs the back of the block. They tend to allow oil to syphon outof the engine

Hehe. i'm the exact opposite. Even one of the owners of B&R is using a drainback system. I too will not use a valvecover version, as that is a more difficult way to do vent, when before the valvecover phenomenon got big, this is how it was normally peformed for pressures over 15-20psi on larger framed turbochargers (over 60lbs/min).

When oil is contaminated, its contaminated in the system. Turbo-LS, I'm not sure if you mean this, but your statement suggests that the oil catch can being a drain-back system is the causation of oil contamination. From my experience this is not the case. Is this what you've experienced?

So do you prefer the one with the fittings on the back of the block sir?

I think he's referring to when condensation mixes with the oil and turns it like caramel . Then it's fed back to the block and is mixed in with the rest of the oil. I've never had a problem using the drain back myself, but I understand what he's getting at as I've questioned it myself.

Oh.. well, that's due to certain climates and the amount of humidity that a person lives in. That condensation doesn't really contaminate the oil. That condensation on the outside of the filter eventually goes away. If the owner is storing the vehicle inside on a regular basis, that filter will not experience that condensation. But either way, will not hurt anything. The "valve cover" venting was a bit of a mess in my opinion. I tend to change valve covers each year.

I'm sure B&R Fittings will chime in to discern the differences.

Condensation that leaks into the oil will just burn off. That is going to happen from normal heat cycles anyways. I think youre more likely to contaminate the oil from the blow by itself, not from condensation from a drain back System...I can def see what youre saying but i really dont think the drain back is that bad. Ive used it for years with no issues. I use the Endyn kit witch still uses a PCV valve, but does drain back. I think its better to get crankcase pressure from the back of the block (the source) If you do use the back a drain back i would just make sure the can itself has a filtered Vent

I've seen and personally experienced milky oil in my catch can and that was an endyn drainback system. i quickly stopped the drainback portion. With that same system i also experienced the catch can literally overfilling with oil on a pass. went valve cove and havent looked back since. everyones experience is different i think

That's a real nice set up you choose to go with. Around how much hp are you aiming for?

Thank you sir. I am hoping for 400whp on 93 and if my tuner says it is safe, we will try to shoot for 550whp on C16 sir.

Yeah i would agree that everyone probably expericences things diffrently...Im sure either method is adequate. I never have noticed anything negative, def never filling up. I guess its kinda tomato tamato it all comes down to preference...if i noticed alot of milk going in i would probably have done the same. I just have yet to see anyhting worth worrying about.

Just got my Gates blue racing timing belt! Now only if I can get my head back from the machine shop this weekend, I can finally bolt my head to my block and get the ball rolling!

I finally port matched my throttle body to my intake manifold. Thanks for reassuring me on the procedure Rich. I think that it came out really good. I will post up some pics when I get the chance.
