I got a 2000 Si, and I was wondering if I should just keep the B16a2 to turbo, or if I should do an engine swap. BTW I want it to be able to be a daily driver and its not my only car. Its my project car. And I figure without an engine swap to at least spend $6,000 on the engine internals, turbo, etc... And I do want this car to be a HP monster. So what do you suggest?

Well a lot depens on your personel preffrence and your budget. Personelly if you alredy have the b16 in the car now insted of spending an extre couple thousdand on a new motor and swap, use the b16 a use that money towards building the motor. I have a turbo b16a making over 450whp and i drive it on the street almost every day. I say keep the b16a. What are your hp goals / ideads for your set up ?

your budget will and should dictate that.

i made great power and had lotsa fun on my old setup, granted it was sleeved and a little more radical than a stock b16, but if you already have it, build a turbo setup with a REALISTIC power goal and go have some fun.

By the way you guys talk I should keep the stock engine. Which I have thought about before. Since the car won't be used in anything like autocross, only for street I'm probably going to want to shoot around 350-400+ horsepower. Even if i go over 400 thats fine, but I don't want anything less than 350. And I don't have that many ideas where to start. I don't know who makes good performance parts, I don't know that many manufacturers. So thats why I'm here. -And as a side note I've had some people tell me that if I want to turbo it I should do a head swap and what-not.

As far as 350 - 400 that is very much possible on a b16 i made 450whp, other people on this post made over 400. So for only 350-400 I would deff keep the b16. As far as a head swap I wouldent most of the time people do head swaps is when they have an LS block and actually use a B16a head due to the fact it's such a free flowing head. This is know as LS vtec. As far as parts theres so many PM (personal Message) me with a parts list and what you want your set up to be and i'll help you with it. As far are turbo selections you wont need anything more than a t3/t04e 57 or 60 trim or if you want a ball bearing get like a gt28r.

I made 408 with my B16 DD. I boosted it until it blew up, then pulled it and sleeved it and put it back together with forged internals. I drove it for years and sold it. It's still running as far as I know. I love a built B16 for a boosted DD, they are cheap and like boost.

What does that mean when people say they sleeved their engine? Because I've heard it numerous times. And I would like to change all the internals to decrease the chances of blowing the motor, or ruineing it somehow. I just need to know what the major parts to be changed are.

When people sleeves there motors it means they send the block out to a machine shop and the machine shop removed the stock thin cylindars sleeves and replace them with stronger ones . The sleeves is the actual cylendar were the pistons travels up and down. I made 454 on stock sleeves and so have many other people but I wish I sleeved my motor insted of my block guard that i installed. I would def recomend sleeving your motor. As far as changing the internals Theres tons of things you can do some are needed some arent. I would sleeve the motor get your self some a good set of rods (Eagle,crower,ect) A good set of pistons (JE,CP,Weisco, ect) New bearings threw the motor. Get rid of the stock valvetrain and get aftermarket springs retainers and valves. It all depends on your budget to

Depends on The machine shop and the machine shop rates but i believe you can buy the sleeves for around 200 and plus labor ya your looking at around 900-1000. But it depends

Unless you plan on swapping a K-series motor in the car then keep the b-16 and boost it.

I would suggest a Peakboost turbo kit. They are selling them cheap and they are damn solid. I am running a Peakboost kit on my RSX and love it.

I have a semi-built B16a. I loved it boosted. I sold the greddy kit months ago. I only made 248whp because of the small turbo and stock exhaust. You can easily manage to get your goals with your budget. I can't wait until I go boosted again. (baby cooking in the oven so it has to wait )

BTW: I do have a 1010 AEM EMS (plugs right in to where your ECU is ) for sale if you need it for your tuning needs (just pm me for details)
