Default 200-250 whp on a d16z6 sohc turbo?

I have a friend in cali that just spent 6000 on a b16a2 built for n/a and he only putting down around 200whp. well i was gonna follow his footsteps but go turbo. now im having a little money trouble and i was thiking of going sohc turbo. i have heard stories of people making 300+hp on a sohc and my question is at the least could i make 200whp on a greddy sohc setup?

You can make 300whp easy on a d16, pump gas.

well im not sure if you plan on beating him but your gunna need more than 200whp turbo to beat his 200whp all motor.

and im sure if you peaced a turbo kit together you can get equal if not more power. it all depends on quality of products that you buy. small t25 great spool time but high end will suffer a little. id get like a 16g. not too big but big enough. good luck

EDIT: and whats the most power a d16z6 can make on stock internals?

bump for the question about how much horsepower a d16z6 can make on stock internals.

I would also like to know bc my d16z6 is about to see boost.

Daym! You guys are making over 200hp at 10psi GReddy?! Tha is really impressive! Mine only pulled 166whp and 175wtq.....UNTUNED.... I'm using the AFC "hack" with DSM 450cc's on stock internals. I think I will hit 200whp once I get it tuned on the dyno.... but I have to get my clutch replaced first. Goodluck to everyone's project

Stock d series internals are good for about 230-250whp depending on the tune. It is all in the tune.

Im' about to go with a greddy turbo kit myself, And i will be happy with about 175 whp with a z6 turbo daily driver. (new to fi world ).

To the greddy kit. heard nothing but good things about it and it's decently priced.

Or you can go custom!!!

I wanna boost my 93 Si too (d16z6), but it's got some clicks on it..200K's, would it really be a problem? The internals are getting on with age I guess, but you wouldn't be able to tell driving the car, smooth as brand new....What would you guys recommend???

Plus Greddy Kits run for around 2500-3000USD right??

Whoever says D series internals cant hold boost needs to do some more researching. There has been more than a handful of people on this board and others making 250-300 whp on stock d series motors. The sleeves have been proven to hold the same boost as b-series, its just the rods that are slightly weaker. I personally plan on pushing my d15b vtec to atleast 270 whp with a completely stock motor. I'd say dont boost past 15lbs, thats my rule of thumb atleast, highest ive seen on a stock D series has been 17psi which yeilded a little over 300 whp, completely stock motor and head

I don't know that much about turbo yet. I am saving to get a kit for my 96 ex coupe. What else besides the stuff that comes with a kit (blow-off valve, wastgate, intercooler, etc.) would i need to get to push 200whp on stock internals? Would apprieciate everyone input.

You will need some type of engine manegment like hondata. An upgraded fuel pump and some 440 cc injectors.

Doesn't the Greddy kit come with fuel injectors and a fuel management system?

What makes 200 whp n/a faster than 200whp forced induction? Its all power to weight ratio. if a n/a car is lighter than a turbo car and makes the same power.. the n/a car will be faster (not taking into consideration traction and other factors). On the jg engine dynamics website (i dont know if its still up) there was a d16z w/ a jackson racing supercharger making 200whp that ran 11s.

I ran a sohc turbo a while back. D16a block, LS rods w/ arp rod bolts. srp pistons, blockguard, fmu, 370cc inj.= 265 whp. @19 psi. Same setup with speed pro management, 550cc inj. = 308whp. @ 29psi.
