Default 2 Lingering problems with my S-AFC setup.... Can you figure this out?

OK, car runs great with stock injectors and fuel trim at 0%. But, when I put in my 450's, and set my S-AFC to -25% @ 1000rpm, -30% @ 2000rpm and -37% the rest of the way (yes, I've messed around with the settings plenty), my car idles very rich when it's cold outside and I just start the car. It blows out white/grey smoke (not the average steam coming out) until it warms up, and then when it warms up and it's warm outside and i'm idling at a stoplight or something, the idle drops really low (600rpm) and starts bouncing up and down. Then it will even out, then bounce again. It's VERY annoying. I don't know what more I can do. Any suggestions? I'm about ready to go back to stock fuel setup and go down to 4psi. Thanks, Riley OH yeah, and it takes a lot longer to start the car now. You have to turn it over for a few more seconds. It acts like it's flooded or something, but when I cut back more fuel, it wants to die.

why are you leaning out your fuel on top? it sounds like you're running to rich in the low rpm's. lean it out at low rpms (subtract more) and subtract less fuel on top. white smoke means you're prolly running too lean. what size are your stock injectors? calculate to make sure you're giving the right amount of fuel

do you have a resistor box wired up? is your car obd1?

you might also want to check out the 18" chromes.... just messing with ya...

As swrdply400mrelay said, you are running too rich down low and possibly too lean up high. -45 is LESS fuel than -25. With this in mind set 1k to about -40 and 2 to about -37 and up to about -35 over the rest. Try that on, the car should idle much better.

i'll give it a shot. my car just doesn't want to run with the fuel cut so low. maybe i'll reset my ecu and then program the S-AFC so it learns it. Will that work? In the past I've just been adjusting it at stoplights and stuff, and when I take the cut to -37% @ 1000rpms, it almost dies, so maybe if it learns it from the start. Thanks,
Riley

Sounds rich to me, I'm hacking with a JRSC on my GSR with a wideband o2 sensor. I"m not cut back less than 40 % anywhere in either high or low throttle setting and I'm still running stoich or ricj everywhere especially under boost.

try re-setting the ecu.....also double and triple check the connections for the resistors.

I will double check the connections, but they are all clicking like they're suppose to. If they are all clicking, could it maybe still be an injector problem? thanks

did you have your injectors clean and flow tested before you install them? What is your fuel pressure at idel?

My injectors were rebuilt when I put them in and all tested. I don't know what my fuel pressure is at idle because I don't have a gauge. I just reset my ECU and set my settings @ -35% across the board hi and low. It idled like ****, even after it warmed up. The motor was shaking the whole car, and the exhaust pipe would spit out a big puff of air now and then when the car would shake. I'm really confused. The less I cut the flow back though, the smoother it ran. It likes the -25% area at 1000rpm, but again it blows smoke when cold and idles bad when warm. I am sick of this. Any help PLEASE???

It may sound stupid but double check all your setup steps. I had my sensors to 03 in and 03 out. I changed them to 06 in and out and it was perfect. I also drive a civic so I'm not sure if those numbers are the same on your car. Also check your other setup steps. Like sensor type, the one with the arrow pointing diagonally up and to the right (like this / )and so on and so forth. Might sound dumb but I had mine set wrong lol My car shook like hell and wouldn't idle and kept almost flooding itself. I could barely drive it, HTH

my car seems to idle better when i set -25 at 1000rpm. i know thats running rich but if i lean it out, i get idle surge. i'm also running obdo. chech your spark plugs, they might need to be replace.

you need to richen it up a bit at idle, because the bigger injectors take longer to open/close (to make one full pulse..) at idle then stockers, it'll actually run leaner then stock.

I have my idle set at -42% and it idles almost perfect. The only thing I can think of is something is wrong with your injectors. Try putting a screwdriver on each of them and hold your ear on the other end while running. You should hear them each clicking. maybe on of them isn't working. What kind of sparking plugs are you using and what gap are you running? I have mine gapped to .032 and I have heat range 7 in mine.

I've tried going up and down the whole scale while idling. It almost dies if I turn it down past -36 or -37. So it sounds like the only thing it could be to me is the spark plugs. I'll check them. Would fouled up spark plugs cause a bad idle? It jumps around and stuff. If it didn't jump around, I could lower the cut, which would in turn make it run leaner at idle which would be ideal. Thanks for all of your help!

Do you have a Rising Rate FPR?? If not there is your problem.

Oh yeah, 2 things to keep in mind. 1. The temperature outside and of engine makes a difference and 2. It runs great with stock map and injectors. Thanks

no, you are wrong. 450cc injectors are more then enough for what he has. it's called the AFC hack.
