You want to have a 3.5" exhaust, and a 3" downpipe?

Not worth it, make the exhaust the same size as the muffler, or put a bigger muffler on.

by going from a larger diameter to a smaller one you are disrupting the fluid dynamic of your exhaust gasses and causing unecessary problems and backflow. You should never go down in size as you go through the exhaust system; stay the same all the way through or go up.
