That's kind of a mixed bag there. With a turbo,, you want as large of an opening as you can get. That why he suggested a 3 inch. The more you close off the exhaust, the more you limit overall ability to "dump" your wasted pressure. See with a N/A system you want back pressure. With forced induction,, you do not.

But, if you are after quiet, i would go 2.25" and a big muffler.

What is the size of your DP going to be?

Whatever you do...do not bottleneck it.

2.5 DP...i think I'm going with 2.5 piping, 2.5 resonator and a 2.5 es oval exhaust.

If you have a 2.5" DP, you shouldn't even be considering a 2.25" exhaust.

I would get a 3" exhaust so you have plenty of room for upgrade as you want more power when you upgrade that DP to 3"

my 2.5 inch exhaust sound the same as my 3 inch exhaust. Just more free flowing over the 2.5 inch piping. I'll say go 3 inch.

Yeah, you are right. I thought about that later after I left the board. whatever the down-pipe diameter is don't go smaller.

I made over 300whp on a 2.5", turbo style rear muffler and a cat with my stock B16 and it was really quiet...until full boost you can deffinatly get away with a more restrictive exhaust if you have open wastegate.
