is 2 1/2 exhaust good or should I run 3" ..................

d16z6 with ihi turbo. will the 2 1/2 be fine or would I notice a difference with the 3" pipe?

3" will allow more flow, but it too could depend are you pushing 6 psi or 20? ya know where i am coming from?

i will be running around 7-10 psi when i get it tuned. I'm thinking it can't hurt to go with the 3", what do you think?

you don't think 3" thru the muffler is enough? where would you put the cutout?

i have yet to see some dyno charts showing the HP gains of a 3" exhaust over a 2.5" for a HOnda...how much power gain can be expected below 14psi?

the main reason I'm thinking of 3" is because I want to throw something on there pretty quick, which means getting maxi muffler to bend the pipe for me, which wouldn't be madrel bends. all I need on the wagon is two 45's. maybe I should just put the 2 1/2 on. don't think two 45's would slow it down that much would it?

buy mandrel bends from Jegs or summit, then have them weld them in.

2.5 is good put the cut out right in front of the catlatic converter, its way better than a 3 inch pipe. When you open that thing the turbo spools up so much faster and you can feel the turbo kick in so much sooner.

I would get 3' for damn sure if you're not getting mandrels. That way you'll end up with exhaust that is the same or a little better than mandrel 2.5"

A 3" will give more power than a 2.5" but say you're only running 7 PSI, the difference might be 2 hp or something like that.

but its not just power gain but spool up time too.

I noticed that my turbo spooled up a lot quicker when I put my 3" exhaust on.

do'nt necessarily need the turbo to spool quicker, i have a subaru ihi on it. comes in quick, more upper low end which is what I wanted with the awd, but its losing out above 5 or 6 due to me still running stock exhaust on it. I guess i'll notice alot with 2 1/2 or 3".
