2.0L B16A motor build (newbe) starts now... another beautiful Benson block *pics*
Fourth attempt to have a turbo'd civic (that will last)... First time doing the build myself
using the same head from my last build, along with Crower stroker kit parts (rods and LS knife edged crank) from my old poorly sleeved block.
the setup:
B16A2 Head:
Port & polish
Multi angle valve job
Supertech valves and valve seals (iron valve guides)
Toda springs and retainers
Type R rocker assembly
GE 84mm head gasket
AEM cam gears
Integra GSR cams
B16A2 Block (now 2.0L):
Benson Signature Series Block (Darton Iron sleeves)
Crower rods
Integra LS crank (89mm stroke)
polished crank shaft
CP pistons (84mm bore)
Some other crap in the car from my last setup:
Hondata S100 w/ boost
95 GSR ECU (p72)
Greddy Profec B boost controller
GM 3 bar map sensor
Delphi 780cc injectors
AEM fuel reg.
STR fuel rail
Holley 255lph fuel pump
MSD SCI ignition
MSD coil
MSD distributor
oh yeah the turbo I'm using for now:
Drag III kit
T3/TO4E .63 A/R (I think)
Now for the reason starting this thread... BIG thanks to Earl for the great service and for the beautiful work that I'm sure most of you guys have already seen... just add this to your proof of Benson's perfect work archive:
Also bought from Earl the last of the parts I need to complete this build.
well, time to get cranking... keep an eye out for either the finished build thread, or the threads of me crying for help

Looks good Dustin. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this motor. This B16a will not be lacking torque Can't wait to see everything assembled.

That bitch needs to be stuffed
Sounds like you have a killer longblock there. Now all you need is a real turbokit

He is going to work on that after assembly. The manifold and wastegate are two of the reasons he blew the last motor (spiked).

haha! yeah I hope to stuff that bitch soon...

bought the car already with turbo and JG engine dynamics built motor... (drove from Boston MA to Mobil AL, and back to get it) that motor was still in break in, either I blew it or the guy sold to me knowing somethings up...
then rebuilt that motor by Comptech but the JG sleeves never held up... tried to tune it but the gasket blew still putting down 350whp @13.7psi.
so finally put in a stock b16a tuned 268whp @10psi but boost spikes blew that one...
now here I am trying to make something out of all these parts.

yeah this turbo should do ok for now, I'm aiming for 400~450whp on pump... but not really, trying more to just get the damn motor running reliably
I plan to swap in a Tial wastegate, equal length mani, and probably select another turbo after she's running strong.

looks realy good and i dont think you will have a problem with your head gasket blowing or your hp goals, benson does a steped deck on thoes, I will have my benson ls/vtec together and in my car this week and i hope to see the same numbers and good luck with your new motor

Re: 2.0L B16A motor build (B18C1CYA)
trying to keep my hp goals conservative for now, I'll be happy with 400+whp or even 350whp which I already know will make (I plan to use the same tuned hondata chip that put down 350hp on the old motor)...
at least until I can upgrade the drivetrain and fix the peg leg... once I can get some traction I'll go back to my tuner (Gruvytune) with a second chip I have and tune with race gas maybe... see what this setup can do

Re: 2.0L B16A motor build (turbosi03)
I have to get torin down to my car so he can tune it during the breakin like earl recomended to me, my last motor blew up right after tuning so i dont trust that chip, because the motor was bad right from the get go so he had to keep making adjustments on a bad motor then it just let go, well i guess thats what happens when you buy used ****

was going to paint the block (aluminum) anyways to be clean and easily notice leaks... I decided to paint the thing red for the hell of it...

im looking to do a similar setup. my question is that are you concerned at all about rod/stroke ratio on that b16 with LS crank? I want a reliable way to get more displacement from my b16a2

the rod ratio will be affected some, but I think it will be ok for me bacause I plan to keep the stock redline for limit.
I'm using the stroker kit because it was from my old setup and I already have the parts. the gains you get from a stroked motor Vs the money involved is probaby not worth it... best way to get more displacement is to bore, or start off with a bigger motor.
thats my guess as to why you don't see stroked motors with turbos that often...
unless, if I can get some impressive power that may change
Thanks everyone for the support!
