If you have the gsr, then stick with it. if you dont have the gsr, then go the ls route. me, i would stick with the gsr, cuz of the oil squirters.

you goin to take the oil squirters out if you going to build the motor. um your make more ftq with a ls becasue of the longer stroke

oil squirtes are pointless in a forged internal engine. Only needed for the stock cast pieces to help cool the pistons/rods. Plus you get more oil pressure removing them

but then how u get oil togo in the cylinders wall to lubricate the rings and pistons ? I though that was the purpose fot those oil squiters .never cross my mind that they were used to help cool pistons and rods

the crank and rods do the job of lubricating the cyl walls. the squirters are there to absorb the heat from the oem pistons/rods which is useless to use with forged internals and waste of oil pressure.

Exactly, with forged pistons and rods, you don't need teh oil squirters. I'd go lsvtec for the added tq

gsr block / ls crank. Best of both worlds.

you tap the whole out to a 1/8 npt and then buy 1/8 npt plugs and bam there gone

street car? keep the squirters. They will do nothing but help reliability i don't care what your pistons and rods are made of. controlling temps is key to a street car.

you need a 84.5mm bore to make it a 2 little with a ls crank. you need a 85.5 mm bore to make a gsr a 2 litter
i would not run that large of a bore for a high power turbo car

go with the ls crank

Hi, I'm dumb. With an ls crank (and I would guess rods/pistons) in a gsr block, what would be the advantage of that? I've heard of it, but never heard what the difference is.

Deck height? And what exactly would that do? (no really, I don't know)

Actually you are wrong, riceball777 is right. to make it a TRUE 2.0L you need the bores he stated. Everybody has just always rounded up even tho a 84 on a GSR would actually round down to a 1.9L since it's closer to that then a 2.0

no you are wrong. even at 84.5mm with the ls its still uner 2000cc's
84mm for a ls is 1.973 and 84mm for a gsr is 1.93

i'd go ls vtec....
there are no squirters nor is thiere a girdle.
Some people make a big deal out of nothing when you don't run a girlde on a high hp and high revving engine...
i guess its all opinion.

Think about hte girlde thing, you can get an aftermarket one though.

deck heights are the same the ls crank has a larger stroke 89mm vs 87.2mm on the gsr, if u have a gsr block sleeve it and use the gsr crank and be done with it. if u have the ls block sleeve that and go ls vtec

Quick Reply: 2.0 ls-v or 2.0 gsr for 500 hp??
