Default 1997 del sol. turbo or supercharger???

I've read a lot about turbo's and superchargers but what are the pro's and con's of each. I will be buying a kit whichever way I decide to go. I need something that will be really reliable. I will not be messing with it all the time. Right now I think I'm leaning towards a JR supercharger for the relative ease of installation. I would like to give my car a little more pep and still have it be reliable. It seems that all the people that turbo there cars are always looking for more boost. I need something that I can install myself and not need help keeping it in tune everyday. Thanks for any Ideas you may have. BTW my car is a stock 1997 Del sol with a greddy cat-back and a k&n. TIA

boost is addictive. wait until you boost. you're gonna want more and more too

if you don't want to fiddle with anything and want uber reliability, i'd say go with the jrsc. nice smooth power, easy install. only problem is you don't get to hear the spooling or the BOV...

personally, i'm building a home made turbo kit.

I think you're probably off with a supercharger kit, too.

you gotta si or vtec? if its an si, a supercharged sohc will be "peppy" but not too impressive. jrsc are pretty expensive tho, for the money you spend i would say a turbo setup would have more potential. either way, if u are sure u won't crave more boost, then whichever choice won't matter so i'd say go with turbo
they don't call it the darkside for nothing tho

Go with the JRSC, it's easy to install, easy to maintain, and you can get a complete kit with Hondata from Moss Motors that is pretty much a bolt in and drive afair. I love my JRSC. It's just too bad I won't be able to fit one on the c5 thats going into my g1 teg.

I must agree here. JR make a nice kit that's relativity easy to install. I ran one for two years and never had a problem. The guy I sold the car to is still running the JR and he's had no problems with it. I know I put on about 30,000 miles and he's had the car 1.5 years. You also have power all the time. IMHO it's good for somebody just getting into F.I.

the del sol models are a lot like the prelude models of those years. S is the SOHC no VTEC, Si is the SOHC VTEC, and the Si VTEC is the B16a. it's pretty confusing

Almost......the models are S, Si and VTEC......not Si VTEC. I agree, its pretty confusing. Too make matters worse, the Si SOHC VTEC engine had "VTEC" on the valve cover from 94 on. I've seen all too many ads and dealers selling del Sols as "VTEC" models when they're actually Si SOHC VTECs......

HTH!!

Yea I have the si and it says VTEC on the valve cover. I am looking into turbo. Everything that I have read on the greddy kit is that you can run at about 7psi and keep things stock mostly. It will be running about 150 horse power to the wheels so I here but the torque is like 115 on the si model. I still am doing research. What Kind of del sol do you have?

Turbo ....I remember back in the day when my friends (who knew nothign about cars but thought they did ) didn't believe me that my Del sol si had a vtec engine, for some reason the 93's didn't say it on the valve cover
