1994 Del Sol VTEC a/c friendly turbo setup
Looking to do some research on the best a/c friendly turbo setup and why? I'd like to hear your opinion or experience. Simple question hopefully I get some good replies. I have a 1994 stock B16 del sol and it has always been rip stuff out for weight purposes and room for bigger setups... Well those days have come and gone. Examples are what's the largest turbo that will fit with little modifications to the cooling system and a/c. I currently have from my older days a large ram horn and an online four manifold (log) I may sell all I currently have in the shop if I get some good ideas. I will be collecting parts until a list is complete. I have an upgraded valvetrain and a few intercoolers, wastegates, off to research.

Re: 1994 Del Sol VTEC a/c friendly turbo setup
I was able to retain a/c and power steering on a b20/vtec in a Type R integra, but not sure if this setup would fit the Del Sol... It was an Inline pro manifold and a precision sc61... Just trying to get the most options as far as boost is concerned while keeping a/c... I rode in a friends 450whp civic and on low boost (7-8lbs) it wasn't bad to maintain. Boost was full around 5k to redline, and on high boost (15 lbs) it was a handfull. I would love to have around the same production. We have E85 and I'm toying with the idea of running it...
Thanks for the replies.

Spoke to Goautoworks. Nice people. They are recommending a S256 or S431. On a B16 anyone have any experience of when these things come alive? I'm really interested in a later spool due to a want for traction and to be fully awake through vtec... Off to research. (Both of these should fit with a/c and little block webbing mods) Wanting as large as I can go with a small frame...

I fit a 6265 precision turbo and I had to cut into the block but it fit... See my sig. AC and PS
Thats as big as its going to get so if you want to go with the Borg Warner turbo you can do a size comparison with the Precision. I personally like the precision turbos...
What is your power goal because the biggest you can fit may not be the answer for you.

wow. That's impressive. My power goals are near 300 for the street and It's hard to say for the track... I would love to be all over 500. We have 93 at the pump here and E85. I only have experience with Precision but the 60/63 on a 2.0 only managed 303 @ 10 lbs. 400+ at 13 sounds where i'd love to be.

Thank you. Doing comparisons between all suggested with 1.6. Picking up a spare B series head to put together for this car tonight. Part by part I will get there.

Just remember, if you buy any manifold with too thin of meterial it WILL crack! Been there, seen that up close and personal. Don't forget to check out the A/C friendly Inline Pro manifold while you're making your decision.

I picked up the cylinder head. 2000 PR3. Looking for valvetrain next along with forged internals for a B16. Slowly but surely week by week.

I've got a ram horn and a hytech manifold I'd love to use on this car but time will tell... I've got to finish my research on parts for the hytech manifold. It's pretty sweet though.

The sidewinder Hytech turbo manifold is probably my favorite of all time but it's a bit overkill for the boost build I'd be doing.

Re: 1994 Del Sol VTEC a/c friendly turbo setup
I think I picked this thing up in 06 lol. I'd love to look at what all I need to run it. I think it would open up some options of turbo use instead of just what I can fit, ya know? I've just slowly gotten to where I can stack some parts up for my daily. My "race car" was an all motor EK with an Endyn build 2.0, before I got a chance to use it ($5,500) my car was burned in a fire along with my shed which has every part I've bought for both cars. Long story short. I have to start over, lost a few turbo setups and the only thing recognizable were puddles of aluminum, the hot sides of some turbos, cast manifolds, one ramhorn and parts to my suspension. The engine is welded together and I am taking my air hammer to it this weekend to look at the pistons, rods and crank. Really sux but I'll get back there. I have a 2000 Si I have a stock B20vtec that was just filling the void for this engine I built. I'm crossing my fingers the gear sets I have (type R/GSR) are okay... The ITR was melted around them and the GSR looks intact... we'll see.

Since you have E85 easily available at the pump I would get some 1000cc injectors and tune of use with E85. You will get some nice numbers on the stock block with E85. I wish we had 93 octane where I live sadly on 91.
