1989 Honda civic wagon 4wd Turbo Build-up, Not meant for 56k ;)
Greetings H-T,
My summer project is to turbo my 89 civic wagon 4wd. So far, I have almost everything I need.
My set-up includes:
-Stock d16a6 1.6L (stock 4wd trans)
-Stock head
-Vitara 8.5 comp pistons on stock rods
-6 puck ACT clutch ($$$)
-DSM t25 turbo on an HF manifold
-Dsm Bov
-Dsm 450cc Injectors & a Walbro 255
-PM6 Turboedit tuned wideband
I bought my wagon last summer. It was the most rust free wagon I could find and I had to drive 10 hours to Virginia to get it.
I put this whole set-up into the wagon a couple weeks ago to make sure things were in order. Unfortunately, my clutch would not take the power so I decided to get right into the actual build.
Right now, the engine is out of the wagon. I am having it bored to 75.5mm to ensure a prefect gap. Waiting is the worst part.
As of 7/31/07-
I pulled (dropped & dragged) the engine from the car and spent probably 3 hours cleaning the engine bay/ suspension components.
I made a nifty radiator support mount. The radiator sits a little high and did not clear the hood. I hammered in some of the sub-frame for clearance. I used a torch to minimize displacement of the frame.
I cut the front bumper and mounted the FMIC. This is the best/ most professional intercooler job I've ever done
Oil pan (welded a Home-depot pipe into it)
Caliper paint and new brakes
Turbo stuff. I painted the valve cover.
The silver pipe-looking thing is an oil return that I made because when I mocked the turbo up, the hose kinked on the frame. This return pipe should solve the problem.
The charge pipe/bov. I used the dsm bov flange. I cut the flange out of the original 1.75 pipe, bent it out a bit to 2.25 to match my mandrel pipe. I then cut a hole in the mandrel pipe of the same size (approximately) and welded the flange onto the pipe. It's not the smoothest flow, but it will get me to my goals.
I will post more as soon as I get my block back. Thanks for looking.

Looking for 200whp, but will probably exceed that. I love wagons. I like the 4wd. Dispite what everyone says, the rear wheels do offer a performance benefit if you know how to drive it. Also, I am a college kid and need a car that can carry a lot of stuff; however, I mostly chose a wagon because it attracts girls.

Also, can't see the pics at work but was this the one on the nippon/slipstreams I see at home depot sometimes? lol</TD></TR></TABLE>
Pics are up. If your talking about the home-depot in Enfield, then yes; you probably saw me. I am always in there grabbing stuff for my wagon.

Looks like a nice build.
On the intercooler though, was that the cheapest one you can find? It's a little hefty for a T25

I picked this one off ebay. It was the cheapest bar and plate i could find. It's not too big for the t25. The oem dsm box is actually a bit small. Next summer's project is headwork and a 16g; so I am thinking ahead.

Oh without a doubt the OEM is to small.
I'm not trying to bash you at all man, and better to think ahead too

A little bored. A few new pictures.
The old t25 was bad. i just-just received this one via ebay.
I'v been a bit lazy and keep all of my tools/part inside the wagon. Notice the trans just sitting in back. 8)
Act clutch $$$
Put in the DSM 450cc injectors. I dremel-ed the OEM Honda Injector jackets to fit the diameter of the DSM injectors.
Cleaned off the old head-gasket and installed the 450's.
Inside the car. I put the wideband below.
Today (8/4/07), I modified the radiator fan shroud to fit the new aluminum radiator. I actually flipped the fan upside down to do so.
Here are some pictures of when I initally installed the turbo. I used a dsm intercooler in this set-up. The car pulled suprisingly hard before I blew the clutch.
Thanks again for looking. Again, I welcome any commentary/advice.

Looks good.
One word of advice.. Vitaras on the A6 motor is not 8.5:1 CR.. is actually 7.9:1-8.0:1 CR on the stock head and block... You should change the head if you want higher CR.
Switching to a Y7 head or a Z6 head will give you 8.5:1 CR with a .030 Head Gasket.

I just decided to get H-beam rods. My machine shop is currently notching the block for the to clear. I just ordered TT h-beams and I am having them over-night shipped. I should get my block back either tommorow or wednesday and I will assemble everything. I should hopefully have the wagon running this weekend and hopefully tuned before next monday.
