Default 17's on 400 whp SI??

Im gona be running a b16 tranny on my 400+whp SI, and someone said that I should look at getting 17' rims with some good/bigger tires to help get gearing/traction back, or something to that nature, is this true, I currently have 16' rims with azenis, should I stick with the 16's or go bigger?

It's about being wider, not bigger (ask the ladies ) But seriously, just get some slicks. No you don't want 17's for traction or gearing.

Negative. I have low 300's at the wheel and have had 15-17 inch wheels on my SI. The 17's spin worse than any of them because of the lack of sidewall. It's better for cornering traction but a stiffy is worse for straight line traction.

Buy slicks, I did and never looked back.

I run 15' 225/50/15 Drag Radials BFG. They grip real nice, you should run them on your set up. With 400whp, you cant get traction on azenis street tires in the first 3 gears....

azenis' have a really stiff sidewall too. theyre more directed towards road race/auto-x. from what i understand when you decrease air pressure you actually LOSE traction. the sidewalls are so stiff they cause the center of the tire to collapse and ride on the sidewalls/outsides.

got them too. look for a drag radial for traction. you are kinda stuck with 15's from bfg. i havent been able to find a 16in drag radial that will fit on a honda.
i run the same 225/50/15's. its a little taller than stock which is good cause it helps your gearing a bit, atleast for the quarter. i still spin 1st and little of 2nd at the track with over 300whp

Those are the tires that come on the SRT-4 I believe..... not really a straight line traction tire but an all around good performer, I personally just dish out the money for BFG DR's. If you are putting down 400whp in a FWD car.....not really much to dramatically help in my opinion

225-15 BFG drag radials with a variable boost controller for street and slicks for the strip.

Yeah how do you guys run 225s on a lowered car? I would like to run the same BFGs but was wondering about the fit. I presently have the Azenis 205-50-15, and yeah I spin the s**t out of them. I put down about 370 or so.

Most people will run 225 wide 15s that any any hope with grip.

The problem with 17s is the sidewall are soo small, they dont flex, which can *reduce* traction.

Stick to a 15" rim with super sticky 225 tires.

225 tire and traction > slammed civic on 22s
