15lbs of boost
 

looking to run 15lbs daily on a b18b im just curious what precautions i should take when it comes to the internals. oh course forged pistons and rods but would i need resleeving? also about how much hp would i be putting down? thanks

You dont "need" sleeves. More precautions should be directed to the fuel system rather than the internals.

We have no idea how much power your putting down without telling us the turbo or fuel setup, or desired compression. list your whole setup to get more responses.

Haha would u be interested in some crower stage 2 Turbo camshafts for the LS?

I have been told by numerous sources that the factory cylinder walls start walking at 1bar of boost...meaning they move while pistons slam up and down, and well you know what will happen next.

I would reccomend you resleeving your block.

The cylinder walls "walk" with no boost, at high rpm. The open deck cylinder design has its benefits, and its downfalls. The statement that the stock sleeves start walking at 1bar is total b.s. I have personally pushed the stock sleeves past 1bar with stock internals, without a single component failure. You cannot say "at 1bar" the sleeves will walk, crack or whatever. There is far to many variables to take into consideration in the sleeve. Sleeving a block is nice for security and piece of mind, but in reality the sleeves are strong enough to take some high horsepower abuse. The only reason that I went with sleeves on my engines is displacement. If you want a 2.0 sleeving is the cheapest option next to deckplate and stroke in increasing the displacement.

alright how about this ideally i'm looking to make 300-350 at the wheels. so i figured about 15lbs and a few other things would get me there. i need this car to last (not forever but for a pretty decent amount) so i wanna reinforce the engine to ensure longevity. ok well besides block reinforcement what else should i replace to achieve my goal and be safe while doing it? also its just an idea but i want this engine to rev to 7k would upgrading the valve springs and retainers make this possible? why you ask? just for a wider powerband. thanks

If you want to run 15 psi on a LS, I would think 300HP would be about right. Once you feel 300 HP in your little car, your going be like a crack fiend and wanting it all the time. You can do it, without resleeving the block and alot of tuning but don't expect it to last you forever, some day your cylinders are gonna go.

you rev higher your going to need some new valves as well. I would suggest just getting some stainless steel ones.

you dont need new valves, stocks are just fine...for all apps...

i made 300 whp and 270 ft-lbs @ 12.5 psi on a bone stock b18b last month...

no failures whatsoever, compression is still 190-195 accross all four...runs like a dream 12.81 @ 110 with a 2.15 60' https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emsad.gif no traction

just get good enginemanagement and take precautions with the right plugs, octane blah blah and I really don't see any problem with it...i mean people boost 15+ on bone stock motors too and THEY never have problems...12.5 is good enuff for me...................
