Default 12 seconds for $7,000???

Does this sound right?

Car i currently have.
95 civic ex w/ JDM B18c (honda lsd)

I live at an elevation of 6000ft, so getting good h/p normally aspirated is hard.

Goal is to have a car that will run mid 12's at this altitude.
Does this sound like a good idea? All I have is about $7,000 for this
Full race kit = $4,000
pistons, rods = 800-1100
msd/coil = 200-300
Injectors= 400
Programmable ECU = 1200 or so w/ tuning
Aluminum Rad = 350

Does this look like a good plan. Car is going to be street car mostly. Some track days, but car is maily for street use.
My buddy has a full race kit on his race car, and it's ******* bad ***. Any opinions welcome.

You should be able to run in the 11's with a stock block ignition and radiator . So all you will need is a good turbo setup, ems and tuning. Other things to add to the list is a clutch and slicks.

ive spent alot less and made 12 second passes...although i went with a custom kit...in my opinion you can spend less making a custom good quality kit...but full race kits great though

Default as far as the clutch goes

car currently has fidanza flywheel, and an ACT puck clutch. I'll probably change the clutch again though. It's been in the car for a little over 2 years, but only 6000 miles.

Installation? tuning? Misc **** that you will need? New parts that should be replaced? IMO if you want a good reliable set-up...build a spray motor. It can be more reliable then the set-up you have since you can afford to do a rebuild to the motor.

Default I'll do the install...

I can install the kit, so no money spent there.

Tuning was included in my price on the original post.

Only other parts I'll need are gaskets, timing belt and water pump..... that's all I can think of now.

skip the msd and the radiator if you are on a budget and add a clutch and slicks...also full-race kits are bad *** but you will pay the price for it..you can get a fr mani then piece the rest together for alot less...be sure to save at least 1k for all the unexpected stuff that will inevitably pop up along the way...by the way the setup you listed should be quite a bit faster then a 12

Buy a Peakboost kit...they make good power...you lose the backdoor intercooler, but you save $1000

Pistons, rods, and new bearings will be more like $13-1400 after machine work etc...

Skip the MSD...you don't need it.

You can get RC injectors for $300 shipped all day long.550's should take you to 350whp, enough for 11 second 1/4's really

Since you already have a OBD1 vtec ecu,buy a Hondata S100..it's all you need..$450 shipped usually, if not cheaper..+ what ever it costs to have your ECU socketed. You should be able to get it tuned for a couple hundred (street tuning works better IMO)

After buying slicks and a radiator you should still have $2-3k left out of your $7k..

Stock motor is plnety fine for 12's

My buddy has a Bone Stock 180k mile GSR Longblock , SC61 , One fab top mount and a EBay IC on 225 BFG's it went 12.56@116 12lbs .. 2.3 60ft lol

Invest your money in 2 key area's the turbo kit and tuning .. Then pray you have enough traction . The hatch I spoke of goes straight to the limiter on the track on those BFG's in 2nd

if all you want is a 12sec slip, pick up some good rubber and a nitrous kit.

piece the kit together, use crome or even crome pro, and you can go with the stock ignition (an msd cap and coil only, no box, might not be a bad idea).

good luck

$7k is a down payment on a faster car like an evo or sti. decide for yourself, do you want to learn? or do you just care about going fast. building a motor yourself and then running 12's with it is alot more fun than just having someone do it for you then going to the track.

some of those prices you listed are really expensive too. you can find the parts you want cheaper than what you have them listed for.

$7000 sounds like too much to spend for 12's to me. I'm planning on going 11's for less.

ya i ran 11.4's on a B16, with cams, open header, and a 100 shot. 11.4 @ 118. its pretty easy, good setup and slicks. i did this for under 7k including the car also

Default I hi-balled the prices

I know all the little **** adds up, so I price all the equipment retail. By the time all the little **** is factored into the actual price, I'm at what I originally expected. If that makes any sense...

As far as a nitrous motor, while it's a whole lot of fun hitting "that button", I've already done it. Time for a turbo setup. I'm doing it to learn as much as I can about boost mostly. As well as have a sleeper honda..... if there is such a thing anymore.

No MSD box huh...... cool. I have a MSD 6a on my road race car. It's been on since I built the car, so I never compared before/after. Is it just overkill in your point of view?

Axles a must on 11 sec car? I was always under the impression that the reason they break is bad suspension geometry...

Thanks again for all the input!

SSAC kit T3/T4 57 trim on a stock GSR and 7 psi.

DSM 450cc injectors.
2.5 in Exhaust.

EG Hatch Striped from behind the front seats back. Car went 12.9 last week at Cecil on shitty slicks.

Car has a new log manifold and is running open dp. 3in from the turbo back should be going on within 3 weeks. Car will be probably at 10 psi then also, not sure if were going to turn up the boost.
