Default 12:1 H22 turbo possible?

H22A/H22A1
90mm 12:1 Weisco pistons
Eagle rods with ARP rod bolts
Cast iron sleeves

Basically i bought the motor from a friend really cheap but now i really want more. A friend is selling his brand new Air Research .50 trim to me for $350 if i want it. Just wondering if it is even possible to run a little boost on pump gas with my compression being this high. I know i would be better off swapping out the pistons for some lower compression ones, but it would make things that much more complicated for now.
I have been thinking about piecing together a nice budget turbo kit for a while. While i was thinking about getting a slightly larger turbo than this, I know this is a good deal. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

100% methanol........
Change pistons or forget gasoline.

Hmmm, about what i thought. Thanks for the fast responses. Guess i will be getting some new pistons and taking the motor out... again. Does the turbo sound like a good deal or should i just forget about it as well?

The 50 trim t04e wheel pushes 47lbs/min iirc, which would do 450hp on a honda w/o much issue. It'd be a quick turbo on a 2.2, depends on your power goal. Also depends on the AR's of both sides. I'd never go above 10.5:1 on a turbo car, especially on a big-bore in a light eg. You already have the low-end torque, so hi-comp is essentially useless. (I should really say the cons outweigh the pros)

I'd say use that turbo and get it professionally tuned. Turbo h22's are need good tuning with their unusual timing.

Thanks man. Exactly what i needed to know. Lower my compression and piece together this kit. Cool. Thanks for the responses.

high compression = lower boost
low compression = higher boost

but 12 damn, you cant have your cake and eat it too

tony ran 11.5:1 on 93oct with 14psi of boost from a gt28....you can run 12.0:1 compression boosted just not on pump gas....its all in the tuning....

Hmmm, we have 100 octane unleaded at the pump a couple towns away and up to 116 leaded at the track. I don't drive the car everyday so i am not worried about gas price... right now anyways You think i might be able to boost 10lbs for a while on some 100 octane with conservative tuning? Pretty small turbo, but i know it would spool like crazy
