Default 12.1 c/r good for turbo

i try searching but cant find it or not sure what to look for. wanting to go turbo with my lsv w/ 12.1-1 c/r. is it safe to go boost that high. everything is pretty much stock oem parts. what will i need to do to go boost like my timing, and what to control the turbo?

thats a pretty high c/r for boost, but its been done. you need some good engine fuel management, and damn good tuning. what to control the turbo? how about a wastegate and a boost controller, or just a spring.

It already hard tuning 12:1 all motor using 93 oct, let alone tuning 12:1 with boost

What's the highest octane pump gas available in your area? You don't want to run race gas everyday

90 octane and i was thinking that if i could use a vafc to tune it for now until i save up to get a better fuel mangement system. iwas thinking that if it is possible i will run about 7 to 9 psi for a while.

What of piston do you have in your motor and there no way your gonna be safe running on 90 octance and afc

NO, do not run a VAFC at any amount of boost. Don't run a VAFC @ 12:1 compression PERIOD. 9 psi on 12:1 compression with a VAFC and your motor will be in pieces the first time you hit boost, end of story. You can't pull any timing with a VAFC, and that's what you need to keep your motor from destroying itself.

Hell, I wouldn't feel comfortable running a 12:1 motor naturally aspirated on 90 octane. Get lower compression pistons before you try anything.

90 octane + vafc + 7-9 psi + 12.1 CR???
good luck man.

seriously, i would try lowering the CR with at the LEAST a thicker hg. but get new pistons.

what is a good compression to run boost.... what is the highest compression to run it.

i think the 12 range is kinda high for boost.

You really have a lot to learn. How did you end up with your current motor anyways? 12.1:1 is already high enough compression for an NA setup with 90 oct. That thing can probably blow up without the boost

to get you started there are a few things you can do.

do it right and buy new pistons w/ lower CR around 9.1-9.7 IMO
or the cheaper way and just buy a thicker headgasket.

dont waste your money on vafc and just go ahead and get hondata, uberdata ect

once you have it complete run the highest octane you state has

other than that you will need your basic turbo kit(ie turbo, wastegate, blowoff valve, eshaust manifold,ic and piping)
racing clutch
550cc injectors are a good start

those are pretty much your basics
i might be missing something...

then get it tuned right

I would just like to add that it is possible to run 12:1 it may not be the kind of car you want to drive everyday- maybe a track car.

it is possible but given his conditions of 90 octane, vafc, 12.1 CR was not a good combination

Hell you can make the car run at 13:1 with a VAFC if you wanted to, but it will never run well. I bet we all could spin that dizzy to full retard and yay, the engine will run. It would just be slower than stock...

VAFC and 12:1 = suicide (for the motor) No timing control with high compression, what are you thinking? hah
