Default 10 AN oilreturn line - what exactly does it mean?

As the topic sais.

10AN return line - does it mean the inner diameter of the hose is 10AN or does it mean that the inner diameter of the fitting that is pressed into the hose is 10AN? In this case, the inner diameter of the hose would be more that 10AN.

1AN is 1/16 of an inch?

Thanks

FYI, there is an faq on the top of the f/i forum that has a lot of really good info, it's a good practice to look there first. GL.

for the lazies,

AN stands for Army Navy. it is the standard for which the armed forces size their fluid lines. usually it is the flare nut size, not the tube diameter, if i remember. but tube diameter is closely related. these are some basic line sizes:

-4 1/4inch
-6 3/8inch
-8 1/2 inch
-10 5/8inch
-12 3/4inch
