1/8 Mile Results...
Hey y'all,
A few weeks ago and again last night I visited my local 1/8 mile track and made a few runs. Here were the results of the best 2 from each visit:
6/21/01 Made 4 runs on my Drag 3 GS-R @ 6psi on the stock Michelins @ 30psi, full interior, spare tire, stock clutch, etc. Low rpm launch with a slight bog to prevent blowing the tires up in smoke (until 2nd gear anyway). All 4 times were between 8.93 and 8.96 in the 83 mph range.
1) 60' 2.228
1/8 mile 8.937 @ 83.365mph
2) 60' 2.258
1/8 mile 8.944 @ 83.628mph
7/12/01 I wanted to try it out with some slicks to see how the stock clutch would do. I have a new clutch (that I need to install), but the stocker only has 7800 miles on it, so it's a shame not to abuse it first. Anywho, the only slicks I have are M/T 20x8x14 (which were perfect for my '94 JRSC'd GS-R, but terrible for my new turbo ride). I need the 22" slicks badly! With the 20" slicks, I have to shift into 4th right before the finish line costing me possibly a few tenths and mph. Here are the results:
1) 60' 2.024
1/8 mile 8.648 @ 79.064mph
Left at 5000 rpm and somehow bogged a little bit.
2) 60' 1.944
1/8 mile 8.689 @ 80.347mph
I launched around 6500 rpm and spun the tiny slicks on this one. I had a better 60' time (and should have pulled a better time), but missed the shift into 4th on this run. Damn-it! As soon as I get the proper sized slicks, I'll post much better results. Stay tuned.

Re: 1/8 Mile Results... (The Mick)
Wow,
You sir, are the MAN!
Anyone help me out on a rough 1/4 mile time extrapolated from these? That must be a low 13 at least, right?

Re: 1/8 Mile Results... (berkel)
Thanks Franz!
Me? The Man??? I won't even do 'til HE gets here.
Should be a 13.3 e.t. at that rate.
Now come the excuses...
This track is slightly uphill. Let off the brake and you'll roll backwards. No joke! With my old car, I usually ran .15 to .2 secs. quicker at the nicer tracks compared to this track. But, you can't beat the $5 test'n'tune. I'm looking for high 12's this fall in VA. Are we still on for that?
