00 si coupe turbo ls/v coolant res. issue
My built Lsvtec just recently got a new turbo kit put on it, and the motor remained untouched during the new install (including cooling system that was working great). On the drive home from the shop the coolant reservoir filled up all the way and leaked out alittle. my old setup made 314whp and for months never had any issues at all (I daily drive this car). Again The coolant system was untouched during the new turbo install. Heres a rundown of the new setup:
00 si coupe
81.5mm bore ls block
stock b16 head
darton replacement dry sleeves
wiseco 81.5mm pistons
eagle rods
acl race bearings
cometic head gasket
B16 Head studs ( alittle short but worked and torqued down fine)
precision 6262
neukin ramhorn
ID 1000ccs
tial 44mm wastegate
19 psi 411whp 276wtq tuned very conservative and rich
So I pick the car up from the dyno and drive it home after making 100whp more than I had before and everything is working great. The total drive was an hour long and I did a few 4th gear pulls on the way home and its fine. I drive the rest of the way home nice and easy and pop the hood when I get there and reservoir is full and alittle coolant has leaked out. I am concerned alittle so I just need some input, never has a single issue before

The B16 headstuds and cometic gasket have held for nearly 6 months on 100whp less.
should I get ARP gsr headstuds and a oem head gasket bored to 81.5mm?

OEM headgaskets are ok up to 81.5 anything over requires cometic. If your not overheating there should be no pressure in the coolant system, let the car warm up to operating temp and check the bottom coolant hose make sure the thermo is opening. If the hose is warm/hot then its fine.. try draining some out at that point.

can you datalog temps? even if the needle didnt move the car may have still been getting hot.
maybe if you're lucky, the overflow was too full to begin with and as the car warmed up it overflowed. other than that it may be from the car overheating or headlift pushing coolant into the overflow.

The coolant reservoir was up to the full mark before so that could have done it. I emptied it out to the low mark and I have driven the car 100 miles and everything is so far so good (it hasnt moved from low). The only time it acted up is when I did long 4th gear pulls.
the car runs and sounds healthy. I just think 19 - 20psi is too much for the stock sleeves.
Ill back off on the boost alittle on the controller. Any chance this has done damage to the headgasket or sleeves? (maybe they moved around a bit?) I havent noticed any leaking or smoking from the car at all in 100 miles.

do leak down, also I would put ARP GSR studs up in there. B16 a bit too short. the extra Psi and HP might be making the head lift with the b16 studs

ya I agree, im going to get the ARP GSR headstuds ordered up and go with a 81.5mm golden eagle/Oem headgasket this time around. Also get the head resurfaced. Thanks for the input
