**OIL RETURN QUESTION**
hi guys
I have a D series honda engine with turbo. Anyway my question is, I have a slight rise in the tube on my oil return. I have heard people saying that gravity is a key player in this??? is this 100% vital? will I get problems if I try starting it. there are no kinks just a slight incline (10% gradient). Anyone had a simular problem. I just cant get that braided oil hose to bend sharply. If anyone knows any "ultra bendy" braided hose please let me know where i can get this
Thanks in advance

i don't think a "slight incline is going to hurt. But it's nice to make it right. Yes the return is completly gravity feed. nothing else pulls it down but gravity theat's why it's important.

Re: **OIL RETURN QUESTION** (djnikko)
Return is 100% gravity, any slight inclince eventually may caused a back up and push hot oil up your cartridge and blow the seals overtime.
Many many years ago, I had aproblem with smoking in my car and tiny drops of oil leaks, I narrowed the problem to the oil return and all I had to do was clocked the turbo about 1/4" to make it straight, and the car never leaked oil ever since.
So yes, a little angle makes a big difference.
One thing if I may suggest, try to get a 45 degree adapter out of the turbo, to help it push down some

Here is a below pic but my return actually has to come up slightly. It works just fine. I am probably going to put a 45 elbow on the pan to fix this though.

i still dont underastand how the oil feed line can be pressurized and the retun line is gravity based with NO pressure whatsoever. where did all that pressure go???

Re: **OIL RETURN QUESTION** (djnikko)
As long as the outlet for the turbo is higher than the fitting on the pan, and the line never goes ABOVE the height of the turbo's oil outlet, physics dictates that there will not be a problem.
as I've said before... go look under your sink-- that the entire reason a "trap" works.... An oil return line won't defy physics-- you'll be fine
as far as the kid above who pictures his SS braided line-- don't mess with it. it's beautiful and it will be fine.

Re: (wanabecivicex)
then get one only like $10 a foot for ss line
although you may have to get fittings depending on the type you currently have.
and all the pressure from the line is gone once it gets into the cavity of the turbo thats why its not pressurized comming out.

Re: (Foozball26)
What about the size? Does it matter? (lol)
The pic from ladysman and the pics above, as well as here:
http://www.fast-turbo.com/Turbolines.html
are all different thickness. My drag kit came with what looks like a goodridge brake line....

Re: (Boofster)
You'll be fine w/o a ss braided line. I've been using a piece of heater hose for 10k miles. I was kind of amazed at first that it was holding up-- but it still is.
