Default ** Prelude dyno results .. h23-VTEC turbo **

got on the dyno this week with my 1993 Honda Prelude

hybrid motor >> h22a1 head .. h23a1 block .. h23VTEC ..
9.3:1 compression ratio
87 mm bore .. 95 mm stroke
stock head
stock block with ARP rod bolts
Innovative 75A motor mounts
OEM flywheel
crankcase ventilation
Spoolin' Performance Quick4 manifold
Garrett t3/t04e 50-Trim turbo
BalanceShaft delete
680cc injectors
Walbro fuel pump
full 3" turbo-back exhaust
HKS SSQV-II BOV
TiAL 44mm wastegate
recirculated 44mm wastegate dumptube
NGK BKR7E plugs
pump gas - 93 octane
obd1 p72 ecu

tuned on Crome Pro and conservative .. timing wasn't messed with much

longer geared M2L5 transmission ( .. Prelude S model - F22a1 .. )

Air / Fuel ratios look great on idle, part throttle, and WOT

DynoDynamics dyno (the lowest reading dyno, tagged "heartbreaker")
292 whp ... ( this equals ~ 350-whp on a DynoJet dyno )
254 wtq ... ( this equals ~ 305-wtq on a DynoJet dyno )
@ 14 psi

full spool by 3900 rpm !

now I just gotta get a helmet and head to the track to see what she runs

what do you guys think about that torque ?

292 does not equal 350. Don't assume unless you try both dyno's

No, and this is conservative .. I am sure that it could've gained about 25whp more on the same boost level if we would've played with timing and other parameters some more, but since this is a stock block we didn't want to take our chances .. I feel confident in this tune

I agree, but DynoJet is inferior to DynoDynamics, I will never strap my car to a DynoJet ..

how is it inferior? a dyno is a dyno, both read power output of cars. they do the same thing.

one puts load on an engine that mimic actual street conditions, and one doesn't ..

dyno dynamics does not put load on an engine. There is a resistance on the rollers which is supposed to mimic the resistance on the street. But that doesnt make it superior. All a dyno is, is a tuning tool. Peak numbers doesnt really mean as much as how the car functions on the street anyways. My car was tuned on a dynojet, and i know people who are tuned on dyno dynamics, and our cars dont function any differently than one another

Looks good, be careful on them stock ringlands and the amount of boost your boostin...

Plan for a rebuild sooner then later...

^ oh yeah, I know boosting stock will not last long .. Since this was my first boost build I did this on stock block mainly to learn the ins and outs of playing the the F/I world .. this is part of my learning process ..

.. the ringlands will go one day I'm sure .. already got that covered with the spare block I've got with Mahle gold-series pistons and Eagle rods, but that motor will see ~ 500whp when the time comes .. first I have to enjoy what I have now

Nice numbers. The H's torque makes it a great street engine for cruising or WOT applications. ENJOY!!!

Nice work, i have the same setup that i'm working on. When you said that you used the arp rod bolts did you mean head studs? I bought a built block and it came with them and i wanted to know if i could use them or if i needed to buy the 22 one's. Other than the h22 lower crank pulley is that all you needed to do the swap? and is the BalanceShaft delete a necessity?

still using the stock h22 head bolts on my setup, upgraded connecting rod bolts to ARP. Balance shaft delete is not a necessity, but since you have the motor apart might as well delete them, they're just unnecessary and extra mass. Convert to manual timing tensioner while you're at it and use the timing components off of the h22 motor ( water pump, timing pulley ) and off course the h22 timing belt.
