"Ring Seal" and other oil additives...do they help stop oil loss???
Like the title says, I saw one of these bottles at the auto parts stores, and it says that it helps stop oil consumption on high-mileage engines.
Would that help any with our boosted Hondas?
And if not, should I just switch to high-mileage engine oil instead of regular 10w-30 non-synthetic?
I don't intend on running synthetic oil, so don't preach to me please.

Re: "Ring Seal" and other oil additives...do they help stop oil loss??? (boostincoupe)
many additives that are offered for like under 5 dollars do more harm than good. i was reading some domestic mag a while back that did a bunch of testing and said additives like fuel injection cleaner, oil burning stopper and all the other bullshit 5 dollar fixes actually do more harm due to strong and harsh additives that actually eat away at important engine seals. i'll try and find the article online if i can...

higher milage oils are not energy conserving, so they should offer more protection, only thing i dont like about them is possibly some additives, like mentioned above, these could do more harm than be helpful. i used to run conventional, best i found was penzoil 15w40 during summer, however conventoinal can only offer so much protection. i'm running 5w40 shell during winter, currently a mix of shell 5w40 synth and mobil 1 15w50. my next oil change for the summer will be all 15w50.
