Default "Gapless" piston rings ????

On weekend I was in machine shop that showed me so called gapless piston rings.
(for a v8 cobra block here in germany from WEINECK - 1600hp :-) )
They were from "Shield and Alberts" or something like this. Has anyone ever heared of that. It seemed as a great possibility to minimize blow by.

The "Total Seal" piston rings are like that. I have heard of a lot of problems with the Import car rings, though I have used them on 350's before.
