FS - 2000 Civic LX, B20Z Swap, Quality/Tasteful Mods
So, I've secured the dream job, but the rub is that it's in California. That means that my beloved, trusty daily driver has to go since I can't register it and don't know how long it will be until I have a garage. I've owned it since 2007 and have put the last 150k on it myself, so I can vouch for everything that's good with it and for the handful of things that need work.
Car is going in for some body work this week. It was already planned when I decided to sell, so it won't be available for a week or so. I'll have some fresh pics up when I get it back. Located in Orlando, FL. May have to move it to Merritt Island if it takes a little while to sell.
In general, the car has been lovingly and meticulously maintained with Honda parts whenever practical, and with high quality aftermarket parts elsewhere. If I could take it with me, I wouldn't hesitate to jump in it and drive across the continent tomorrow.
I have receipts and records for a lot of the work I've done as well.
The car:
2000 Civic LX, ~241k on the body
- OEM Si grill & lip
- OEM fogs, recently replaced with brand new and Lamin-X'd
- New tint, not cheap stuff. 3M ceramic/non-dye.
- Self installed security (not stereo shop hack job), will disclose to buyer.
- Pioneer MVH560BT digital media receiver (no cd player). Sounds great and has Bluetooth!
- '01 Civic EX steel wheels with covers, 15x6 +45
- Yokohama S.drives with plenty of life
Motor, build thread here:
https://honda-tech.com/all-motor-nat...2932515/page7/
- 2001 B20Z2 block, about 55k since build, 60-70% highway.
- bored to 84.5mm, RS Machine ITR clones
- Reconditioned rods with ARP bolts. Rods were re-sized after bolts and installed by stretch method
- ACL Race Bearings, rods & mains
- P8R head with valve job restored to 100% factory specs
- B20Z cams
- 98 spec ITR header with upper heat shield
- PLM 300 cell cat (not a test pipe)
- A'PEX'i WS2 exhaust (sounds AWESOME, and you barely hear it under cruise)
- PS, pump rebuilt at motor build
- AC, works great. Honda compressor
- ITR crank pulley & all factory belts, etc.
- Catch can to oil galley ports
- ITR intake tube
- Comptech Icebox with pretty new Uni Filter
- Deleted thermo valve by CNC'd block off plate
- Civic Si EM1 radiator (dual core, aftermaket stock replacement)
- Spoon rad cap and Blox rad stay (lol)
- Always full synthetic oiled, currently 5w20 Penzoil Platinum
- ONLY Pentosin SF coolant (the pink VW stuff) and de-ionized water have ever touch my cooling system
Engine Management
- Neptune RTP, Demon 1.2 board (4Mb Data storage)
- Custom Bosch EV14 injectors from HiProfile/Injector Nation
- AEM FPR
- Knocksense MS with output to ecu for logging knock and led on dash
- PLX SM-AFR wideband with DM-6 gauge on dash
- Accel coil (practically new, installed last month)
- Harness built by me from a D16Y8 harness.
- Adapter harness for OBD1 ecu
- Car can be easily converted to OBD2 if needed, needs to have the EVAP hooked up correctly and a secondary HO2S installed and (obviously) an OBD2 Integra or CR-V ecu... that's it.
Car made about 155HP at the wheels according to virtual dyno, take that number with a grain of salt but it repeats:
Part throttle tuning is pretty good,it really needs to get on a dyno and get a proper full tune though. I will provide all of my NepTune files to the buyer.
Drivetrain:
- 2001 GS-R trans... I've owned this trans since it had about 400 miles on it, so I can vouch for its condition. Bought from Spec-R Tuning in Tampa wayyy back in '01
- Rebuilt with Synchrotech Carbon Sychros and new bearings everywhere but the diff:
- Raxles Axles. Marty makes a great product
- Integra intermediate shaft with new OEM bearings
- New OE/Koyo wheel bearings
- Exedy Stage 1 clutch & lgiht flywheel (9.5lb iirc)
- Honda MTF (old formula)
- New lower torque mounts
- Skunk2 dual bend shifter/****
- B&M aluminum front bushing
- Mil-Spec U-joint mod to shift linkage (one of the best mods I've ever done to a Honda!)
Suspension:
- Ground Control/Koni/GC Top Hats (all four) with OTS rates
- 22mm ITR rear bar
- Beaks SRK-EK v2
- Prothane rear bushings
- Home made rear end links with high quality teflon lined rod ends (no Blox ****)
- 26mm EM1 front sway bar with Hardrace Prelude end links & hardrace bushings
- Full Hardrace bushings in rear
- Brand new (2 weeks!) Honda compliance bushings in front
- New lower ball joints
- OE front UCAs, they were removed for about 100k of their life until I got sick of replacing the ball joints in Skunk2 arms
- Newish reman'd calipers from Centric, new OE pads from dealer
Car handles great and rides respectably. It could stand to be raised an inch and would ride much better. Front end is planted and precise, and the back end can be stepped out if you push it hard enough. I wouldn't hesitate to put some stickier tires and stiffer springs on this hing and hit the Auto-X, I just haven't had the time.
Obviously, a car of this age has some issues. It's got a couple of door dings thanks to dumbass UCF kids in the parking garage, and the rear bumper cover has the typical corner crack that I feel they all get at some point or another. It has been a Florida car its entire life though, so it is almost entirely rust free, save for a few surface spots where some repair had been performed before I owned it. I am the second owner of the car, and the second engineer to own it, so you know it has been taken care of meticulously.
$5500, I will include extra parts and goodies to the buyer as well.

Santa Clarita. I'll probably rent something up that way for a year or so until I figure out where I want to buy. I need to stay pretty close to an airport though (preferably Burbank), so I'm looking at some neighborhoods in the San Fernando valley that I liked.
