The ECU is a p72 and has a chip in it and a pigtail but I cannot find any information on that style. Does anybody know what connector this is. |
Re: What's added to my ECU
It would be a data-link connector... something that a previous owner "created" to be able to analyze data. Home-grown janky crap.

That's what I was thinking do you have any advice on ecu's I was going to go with hondata s-300 or AEM’s EMS-4

Re: What's added to my ECU
the switch is to toggle between the stock maps and the chip
the chip is sitting on a ZIF (zero insertion force) socket to allow changing parts easier. The chip contains what ever maps and program they put on there (could be anything) the cable is the data logging cable, ie a repurposed 3.5mm jack to use for the required 4 connections. IMO not 'Home-grown janky crap.' Simply not a standard cable. (not a awful idea either, would be cheap and readily available)

If you are more of a DIY person, add Neptune to the list. |
Re: What's added to my ECU
I was going to say that looks a lot like an ECU I did in the past that was running a lot of Innovate Motorsports hardware using Logworks. All of the hardware was daisy chained using 3.5mm audio/data cables to keep it simple. I used a 4pin connector instead of hard wiring it to the board like the one shown above.
OP, that ECU is probably still good to go for whatever you chose to tune with. I completely agree with Relic1 as to what one to choose. Neptune will fit this ECU. And if you are not tuning this yourself, the tuner you are using would be able to tell you what they prefer. |
