Oct, Nov & Dec are typically slow for me...but come the new year if things pick up like I hope, I may need another set of hands https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif |

My name is Nick. I'm currently 19 years old looking to get experience in the performance/tuning industry. I attend Brookdale Community College and am in the Automotive Performance Specialist program. I know basic mechanical things, but am looking to learn how to tune and do more performance mods (turbo setups, engine building, head/block work, ect.) I am willing to work for nothing. Just looking for experience so I can open my own speed shop someday. You can contact me at 732-318-4705 if anyone needs help. Location in Jersey would be the best.

Jose Covarrubias
St. Cloud, FL. I've been tuning for about 2.5 years now. I'd like to work at a shop where the main thing is tuning, but I don't mind working at the usual mechanic shop. As long as there is room for moving up the latter, I'm game. I've done most my work with OBD1 and OBD0 Hondas, but wouldn't mind and would LOVE to learn everything else. I definitely don't mind moving to wherever the job may be. |
My name is James Elmore.
I live in Wyandotte Michigan. I am 20 years old and about to turn 21 in January of 2009. There isnt a lot of places to work here in the car industry (mostly imports) and i would like to possibly get out of Michigan to learn how to work on cars and tune them as well. I know basic mechanical skills, and have the ability to learn if pointed in the right direction. I have the desire to learn as much as i can. I am about to tear apart my B16a2 Turbo 1994 Honda Del Sol for the winter and build it up so that it can handle a lot more boost. If you can help me out it would be a great step to my future plans. I am friendly, and get along with pretty much anyone, i have a lot of patience which is needed in the industry. You can contact me by phone (734) 934 8732 or by Email J.Elmore777@yahoo.com Thanks. |
I thought this thread was for shops looking for people, not vice versa.
Seriously, if you don't have a resume, you guys should start one. It's a tangible item that summarizes your work/project experience and level of education, highlights your applicable skills, and is an indicator of how you handle responsibility. I would not consider it the same as a job application. If you go into any place of employment and ask for a job and don't leave them with something they can hold and pull up later, you're forgotten the moment you step out the door. It's also a way for employers to screen applicants. If there are any NHRA, NASCAR, Grand Am, AMLS, Toyota Formula, Mazda Formula, Porsche Cup, IRL, AMA SS/SB, Speed World Challenge teams in your area, one of them has to be looking for young, motivated pit crew/low-level techs to backfill or bolster there ranks. Not everybody has to be an engineer to work for one of those teams. All of the above mentioned are professional series and the amount of money that gets poured into the facilities and equipment is astonishing. Multi-axis CNC machining, portable CMM's, vision inspection systems, rapid prototyping, engine dynamometers, and some even have wind tunnels. Also, there are two of you that I would not hire right off the bat. Learn to spell correctly. |

I've got an opening for a CAD technician. AutoCAD and Solidworks 2008 apply. Fairly simple work, but must follow standard procedures and requirements. Must be able to meet deadlines and work individually.
