Troubleshooting: Hondata S300 V3 Flex Fuel sensor issue?
I followed Hondata’s write up (https://www.hondata.com/help/smanage...?flex_fuel.htm)
However the ecu wasn’t getting a reading.
So i got another continental 13577429 sensor. Still the same problem.
I have 12 volts at the vcc, continuity at the ground, and just realized the output is 10 volts with 91 octane (9-10 ethanol %)
Hondata works off a 0-5v scale, so what gives? Hondata suggesting the wrong sensor or is amazon selling me the wrong stuff?
Yes i have the 2.4k ohm resistor wired between the vcc and output.

When you say 'continuity at the ground', continuity to what?
You've got 'Out' going to AN0 on the Hondata board?
I bought my sensor from Amazon and it works fine.
The sensor doesn't output a variable voltage based on ethanol content - it gives a variable pulse based on on ethanol content (frequency) and fuel temperature (pulse width). The sensor won't produce any output unless there is fuel flowing through the sensor. Was the engine running when the ECU wasn't getting the signal?

Out is going to analog 0. Yes the engine is running while i check smanager for signal at analog 0.

Silly questions, but do you have the flex fuel tab in S-manager set up right - AN0 selected and not D10? Double check the wiring - Vcc = pink, Gnd = black, Out = white? 2.4K ohm resistor between pink and white wires?

I think the wiring and connectors could be a problem. Did you solder in a pigtail to plug into the sensor? Or use butt connectors? How did you wire in the resistor?
If your skills are not great with wiring, I would just buy the HA motorsports flex fuel sensor harness kit.

i ran out of white cable so ignore the two black cables coming out the end haha. Ones ground ones output.

So wait, what voltage are you getting at the ecu? It should not be seeing 10 volts. After the resistor it should be seeing like, 0.005 volts. Not sure you have that resistor wired up correctly.
From the Hondata guide "do NOT connect VCC and OUT together. The resistor can be installed anywhere between VCC and the sensor". It should just be installed on the white wire before the ecu.

Hondata replied saying voltage doesn’t matter.

re: Troubleshooting: Hondata S300 V3 Flex Fuel sensor issue?
If this means its in fact working-
I had the display setup to show voltage not percentage. Once i changed it to percentage it was already working.
It’s been so long since i’ve used hondata (and never used flex fuel) that i guess i was just looking at the wrong display.
