Ok gents. I have been having an issue with my d16y8 turbo for awhile now and I'm at a loss. I have purchased a base map from HAmotorsports and they have been doing a fantastic job trying to help me figure out what the problem is. Ill list the mods done to the engine after this. But when i start the engine it idles super high like around 2500 rpm until it hits target ve at 126 degrees, then idles up too 3000. I have just tested to see if i had any vacuum leaks by taking off the intercooler pipe off the throttle body with the car running and put my hand over it so it would not be sucking any air. Car dies 2-3 seconds later.I had looked and noticed that the throttle plate looked to be barely opened but was sucking super hard due to the high rpm. I dunno what could be the problem that i am having bad luck getting the car to run right with a base map. Any ideas?

D16Y8 converted from auto to manual but modded intake manifold to mount iacv.

Just did a test to see what the actual fuel pressure is in the rail. put on a adjustable fuel pressure regulator with the gauge. while it was doing its high idle thing and running rich i was watching the gauge it was bouncing around between 38-45 psi. just to see what would happen i started to turn the screw to drop the fuel pressure. still had they high idle and running rich, dropped it down to 20 psi and still was doing the same thing. what am i missing?

aside from the idle does it drive well enough to get to the dyno and your tuner?

I haven't tried. Didn't know if running too rich and that kinda high idle would hurt the engine.
