Help chipping ecu

So i dont know how to tune or chip an ecu and wanted some help, thing is that i bought an ecu that was already chip. But for me to be able to tune i need to buy a diffrent chip and the datalog, could somebody explain that to me because ive seen people that burn the chip with a diffrent circuit board, is that nessesary? If i dont do it i cannot tune it dirrectly with the datalog only?

Re: Help chipping ecu

Chips have to be burned using a chip burner... there is NO real time access to the chip. Datalogging is a totally different process and has nothing to do with the chip. Oh, and 2003 called... they want their ECU chip back.

Just curious... but you have a project car that you care about... and yet, you choose the most basic, low tech, prehistoric system to run your engine... WHY ?!?
