h23a1 on crome

I need some help with an h23a1.

I race my 1993 honda prelude h22 vtec at the local oval track, and I’ve been told that next season, they’re banning vtec engines because “they’re too fast.” I don’t like it, but I gotta follow the rules, so I guess I’ll be running an h23a1 next season.

With the way the rules are, and the size of the track, I will be needing to raise the rev limiter to 7500 rpm in order for the car to work at the track. I know the p14 ecu isn’t programmable, and I’ll need a chipped ecu to do this, but I’m not really sure what ecu to use. I’d like to use the iab’s if possible, but that means that I have to run a p72, and that’s a vtec ecu. Will that ecu work with the non vtec h23a1? My h22 is currently tuned on a chipped p72 with crome, and while I have all the equipment to do tune it, I’m still not very good at tuning cars. I’m more or less able to edit base maps and stuff like that, but I haven’t ever started from scratch before, and I don’t feel comfortable enough to do it yet.

Are there any basemaps out there for the h23a1 so that I can start with something relatively close? I did some searching online, and found some stock p14 bin files, but when I pull them up in crome, they don’t look right. The maps are really lean and the timing doesn’t look correct.

I’ve contacted a few local tuners, but nobody’s ever worked with an h23a1. With pgmfi down, I’m not really sure where I should turn to.

Yes you can use the chipped p72 and simply disable the vtec system in the software. You will need to have the h23a motor tuned. Don't run a basemap! You could try starting out with an ls basemap and adjust from there or maybe phaerable has a close basemap for your setup.
