Default h22 del sol with "JUN" chipped p28 (poor mileage)

so im running a stock h22a in a del sol with a "jun" chipped p28 ecu.

you know one of those chips taht raise the redline to 9500 for no reason... and change the vtec engagment blah blah.

im not sure if the chip is getting me bad mileage i heard those things make you run rich.

im not sure how to read my odometer thingy its a jdm cluster. i reset the bottom numbers to 0 and drove until half a tank. its now at 2000ish , im pretty sure thats not km.. cus 2000km = 1242.74miles.. and that was only 4 days -_-.

so my question is what measurement is those bottom numbers?

and secondly do these jun chips cause bad mileage?
and whats a better a better stock ecu to be running?

keep in mind no money right now to afford any hondata, uberdata, etc. so which stock ecu would run well with my h22a? p28 with h22 basemaps?

THANKS!

Yes, it would, since it's not designed for your larger injectors. The timing and fueling is also not designed for an H22a. Get a proper basemap, that's all you need.

stock ECU - OBD1 P13
(provided your DelSol is 93-95, 96+ is OBD2a)

or like HRTuning said, a real H22 basemap from either place he mentioned will be far better than that POS you have now.
But with a basemap, at minimum, you really should have someone local to you do a quick street tune on it.
You don't have listed where you are from or we may be able to point out someone for you.

Relic is right, definitely have it tuned if you can. The stock P13 would run best if you want to keep it all stock, but it's more expensive than getting a basemap for the P28 you already have.

i live in southern california, la county. right now i think im getting like 16mpg ish at the most. about 180miles on a full tank... 12gallons....

that is really shity..

new spark plugs. no o2 sens. air intake is the only mod
yeah im planning to just get a p28 with h22 base map. some site selling it for like 139.99 =D

and another question... can i use my p28 like "unchip it" take the jun program off it and replace it with a h22 basemaps?

and does the jun program really causeing 16mpggg???? or is there other factors invovled?

its not a real Jun tune its a counterfeit someone sold you from ebay.

you do not need to buy a whole new ecu just another chip. it will need to be tuned for your motor. even if you have a H22 base map it might be ok but its still not tuned for your specific motor.

Find someone local that tunes and get it tuned, or buy a base map from a reputable company until you can afford the money to tune it.

yes you can get a base map for your set up. but make sure you also get it tuned. a base map is not a tune.

The Ebay chip isnt right for your car this is why you will be suffering power and mpg. also take this in advice. 2 h22 motors will not be the same. as in if 1 h22 is tuned and you use that tune its still not correct as your motor might like different timing etc.

haha obviously i would love to get it tuned.. but tuning is money and i dont have. i was beginning to wonder if there were like exhaust leaks causing the bad mileage, because a muffler shop said my flex pipe was kinda messed up cus its old.

but thx for the advice.. and how do u read the jdm odomoter? the top numbers are km... but what are the bottom numbers? like the ones you can push a button and reset to 0000

the numbers are still km, same as the USDM reading miles. it's called a trip odometer.
my guess, you read 2000, is actually 200.0, notice the different color on the last digit?

Those Jun and Mugen chips tend to run really really rich on anything but the most aggressive motors. If you have also increased the ratio of injector size to displacement, it will be ridiculously fat at anything above low rpms.

Talk to Phearable.net, give them your set-up and get a new chip. It won't be perfect but it will be a LOT better than a Jun knock-off.
