Buying an EF- 1991 RT4WD Wagon or 1991 DX Hatchback
Hey all! So for the past year I've been wanting an EF hatch/wagon, well two are finally available in my area, they are a 1991 Honda Civic RT4WD Wagovan, 6 speed with SL gear, red, and d16a6, and a 1991 Honda Civic DX Hatchback with a DPFI d15b2.
The Wagovan is $2150, it has 160k, and the Hatchback is $3000, and has 140k.
I'm torn between them because the wagovan is red, and that's not my top pick for colors. On the other hand, the d16a6 is the sportier engine of the bunch. The EF hatch has no tachometer, so I'd have to install one, which I'm having trouble finding a thread on. I'd be installing an OEM tach where it would be on an SI model. Mainly though, since the hatch is more expensive and I'm going to have to put more money into it, is it a good idea?
I mainly want a stock looking EF hatch with a decent engine, at least 150hp or so when it's finished. If I get the wagovan, I'm going to save to turbo it. If I get the hatch, I read the d15 isn't a good platform and to swap in something else. I'm a noob to engine swaps though.
Can you see why I'm having trouble picking? Haha, sorry for the long post guys. I've read loads of forums on here, but this is my first time posting.
Any questions on what I mean let me know. Right now I'm leaning towards the Hatchback because I like the color better, and it's lighter/smaller. How much more though? I read the EF hatches are 2,000lbs and the wagos are 2,200, not 100% sure though. Anyway what would be the better financially friendly option, because I'm a high school student/college student on quite a tight budget.
