oem. or if it's a DD you're probably fine with any aftermarket OE replacement (Mahle, Felpro, etc.). No need to overspend for a DD.

What material is best because I used a multilayered steel gasket and its leaking water into the cylinders after only a couple weeks. I always thought the multilayered steel was the best but I'm wondering if a different material is better?

We dint know for sure we are in the process of taking it all apart to check. I was just wondering what gasket type would be best if everything checks out.

OEM is best, but that will fail too if your head isn't true. Standard procedure is to get it milled to ensure flatness. Any MLS gasket should work fine if the head is flat.

That's what we were worried about but we got it apart and it looks like it was just a low quality gasket and/or the torquing may not have been right.

Oem is by far the highest quality. Usually the felpro gaskets will leak a little oil from what I've seen. You can check the block and head with a flat edge (like a metal square from Home Depot) and some feeler gauges. You shouldn't be able to fit anything more then about .002" under the flat edge against the head or block.
