Default 450 DSM injector on hondata s300v3

I've read, specifically on hondata forums, that 450cc DSM injectors even with resistor box will not work with the computer, my car currently is running but very rich and it cuts out in vtec, its a 94 hatch with a b18c1 and k04e turbo with a p06 ecu and hondata s300v3, still learning lots about this car and hondas in general help would be appreciated thanks !

may i ask why are you running that ecu?

i had that problem too i was running super rich and my vtec wouldnt engage... my adivce to you is get a p28 ecu and re tune and check your vtec parameters.

It's the ecu that came with the car, I've read that p06 are capable of running vtec despite being non vtec, but I might look into a new one given the issues im having, did this work for you?

i know that the P06 ecu is a non vtec ecu so youll have to add capcitors & etc... if the ecu was socketed right then you should be good.. i would double check your tune. check the vtec parameters n fix you rich problem..

Whoever is giving that false claim should stop working on cars. Hell, you can run the stock injectors but will max out to 100% duty cycle of course. Just make sure to have VTEC enabled (and proper resistors/components installed) and have it tuned. For your setup, why not just get larger/better injectors?? Prices have gone down dramatically . No need to buy used injectors, even if they have been flow-tested.

DSM 450's work great, but I would have them cleaned and flow tested before using. Also make 100% sure they are wired in properly thru the resistor box. Then you just need to sort out your fuel maps to stop running rich.

The VTEC problem I would guess is due to the ecu not being set up properly.

DSM injectors will work with a Honda ECU if run with a resistor box. Now unlike 2x0, I wouldn't say they work "great"... maybe more like they work "ok". That fuel injector design is over 25 years old at this point, and the technology in fuel injectors has improved by leaps and bounds since then. As stated above, since you have to buy a used set of DSM 450's, get them cleaned and flow tested, find/buy a resistor box if you don't already have one, wire it in (likely butchering your engine harness), the cost in cash and time will be really close to a modern set of fuel injectors. The advantage to the new injectors will be new, a warranty, and a larger size so that you can grow in the future without having to buy them again.

You can only make about 250 wheel HP at conventional fuel pressures with DSM 450's... so these are essentially what i would call "gateway" injectors. That power level is typically just a taste and many owners want more power soon after reaching the limits of these injectors, and thus, require the purchase of some LARGER injectors to accommodate the increase in power. So why buy them twice ???

I'm also running dsm injectors was wondering...
They were hardwired in and I'd like to know if anyone knows if rc injectors share the same pigtail connection at the injector
Thanks in advance
Or should I just install a set of dsm injectors since they are already connected that way

No. The Rochester/Lucas injector does not share the same injector as the KEI injector. You can use the DSM or Toyota 3S-GTE which share the same connector

*Edit* Corrected below..

Fair enough. The last time I used them was 15 years ago, and it was only because I had zero budget for the build and was only making 200hp. Would never use them now, but for some they will serve their purpose.

That's interesting. I used to run DSM bluetop 450's. Then I switched to RC 750's, and the plug was the same. Direct swap, no wiring needed.
When I went to ID injectors is when I had to change the pigtails.

You know what? I am going to correct that statement. I just found another set of the RC550cc injectors with another DSM Injector and are, in-fact both EV6 clips. I'll strike out the previous statement.

I'm starting to get old..
