What all is involved in a rods/piston install on a B18?
The B18b motor in my car has 85,000 miles and looks like new with the valve cover off. I've thought about turboing the stock motor but H beam Manley rods and Wiseco pistons are so cheap I was thinking about just putting forged internals in the motor. How much work are we talking here? I'd like to avoid shipping the motor off somewhere but I don't know of any local machine shops so I was kicking around the idea of doing it myself.

you will need the repair manual, new head gasket spraid with coper (if the head will not be milled) , standard dia pistons, a torque wrench, stock rod bearings, pinston ring plier, plastigage for measuring rod/crank clearence, honing machine for cylinders, and a simple tool for measuring the piston ring gap.
Watch plenty of youtube videos for all the above and after u can go for it. I suggest you ask help from a professional machinist for honing the cylinders. good luck |

I'll put this in the Engine Assembly forum. There are some great videos from even Evans tuning that can also help. I'm looking at a new source for getting a new book written about Hondas in great detail.
Using an older /true school method that doesn't depend upon specific companies other than Honda to be able to do it. What I like to call "Pre-Furious Revolution". |
