Trashed main bearings - next steps
 

This is a b16a. Rod bearings all looked good, everything looked fine until I got to the main bearings and crank. Bought the block off FB marketplace. All of the main bearings were down to the copper, crank is pretty rough I can feel grooves in it. Should I scrap the whole block or is some of this still possibly usable? The cylinder walls still look perfect, could I grab a new crank and be OK? Or get this one machined?

did the seller mentioned they were bad? If not, it wouldn't be the first time. Dealt with that shit a few months ago with a "good cylinder head" from some lowlife on FB.

If it was up to me, I would get another block. As for the shitty seller, he will get what's coming to him soon enough

for stock or close to stock power goals, it's possible to regrind and run over-sized bearings. of course that is dependent on the damage cleaning up when it's reground. if the amount of stock removal is greater than the max available OS bearings then it's scrap.

higher than stock power... maybe not worth the risk.

Ok... hmmm... I'm at a loss of words here. I don't even know how it's possible...
1) the block is totally fine. You don't need a new block.
2) I can't determine anything regarding the crank from that picture. Only way to know anything is bring it to a machine shop to have them measure it and see if it can be polished out and kept in spec for stock specs. DO NOT get the crank re-ground for oversize bearings. Almost every honda in history that has attempted to use a re-ground crank has destroyed the bearings within months. If the crank can't be saved without re-grinding it, get a new crank
3) This is where I'm lost... Those bearings are not down to the copper. There is supposed to be a very large groove in the center of all 10 bearings. But that groove is completely filled in with copper in all 10 bearings. I've never seen that happen, ever, and building engines has been in my job description for 20+ years. What boggles me even more is you said the rod bearings were all fine, which is next to impossible. The grooves that the main bearings have are how the engine sends oil to the rod bearings. With those grooves filled in like that, it's impossible for any oil to get to the rod bearings.
If I had to guess, somebody who has no idea how to rebuild a motor tried rebuilding it and messed up bad. They probably installed oversized bearings on a stock crank, and immediately destroyed it. Then took it apart, replaced the rod bearings and nothing else, slapped it back together, and threw it up on FB for sale.

Likely one of those fools on FB with parts laying all over the place. You see them all the time, driving around in a shitty ass Civic coupe with exterior parts from 3 different colored cars and filthy ass interior. LOL

Honestly, it's more of hassle trying to save that block than it's worth.
