Screwed up my head torque, what should I do?
 

We are reinstalling heads on my 2010 Honda Odyssey the J35A7 motor with 12 point head bolts. I have new bolts.

We put the rear head on last night and we used the wrong torque spec, We used the 6 point head bolt spec 29, 51,72.

After research this morning I finally found the correct spec for this motor and we used the wrong toque, it should be 22, then 90 deg, then 90, then and another 90 for new bolts.

Should I just back the bolts out and then start over with the new spec? Or leave it as is, or something else like just add another 90 deg?

those are stretch bolts normally have to be replaced once torqued

If you didn't crank up the engine and get heat in it... loosen them up and re-torque at 22 ft/lbs + 90 + 90. Do not do the 3rd 90 because the bolts have been stretched already.

Well we did this Saturday morning and we backed them off, then went to 22, then 90, 90, and then 40(another 1/8th turn). I figured it was better to have them too tight, then too loose so the extra 1/8th turn was for good measure.

We did the 2nd head according to spec.
