Rtv black vs hondabond

For an added seal to gaskets what do you recommend from EXPERIENCE. I grew up around RTV with the old heads. (Not hondas tho)

Hondabond or Permetex Ultra Grey. Same thing pretty much

I've used both. Use whatever you have.

I prefer Permatex "The Right Stuff" grey or black. It's an anaerobic gasket maker.

Ultra Grey doesn't seem to be anaerobic like certain Hondabond Variants. It hardens over time.
There are several different variants of Hondabond and the ones that seem to work the best, last the longest and not harden over time are the anaerobic variants.

If you google search Hondabond you might find a forum post where someone listed many of the variants and their part numbers and it might have had their applications too but I don't remember off hand.

Found it: Knowing which Hondabond to use

I use the toyota fips oil pan gasket maker for all gaskets, water pump, oil stuff etc. never has let me down over the years.
